Two Addictions One Home!

While looking for a post, I found this from 2 years ago. I am trying something new. I put this back in drafts, and am now going to change the post date to today and see if it works. If this is showing you know it worked.
I want to see if it post the comments to. I was able to enlarge the photos, since 2 years ago they were tiny. HERE WE GO

Now to address the title of my post today. You all know I am addicted to clicking my camera at anything and everything. My husband is addicted to building, flying, designing Radio Controled Airplanes. YES that is a bi-plane on the kitchen table. Due to excessive cold weather in Florida this year and the fact there is no heat in my husbands workshop, our home has become an addtion to the garage/hangar.

we have jets on the kitchen counter.....

Jets on the pool deck

the good thing about bob's addiction is I can use my addiction to document what he does with his addiction.
Our Garage/Hangar has somewhere around 40 planes in it, NO PICTURE allowed of hangar for the public viewing. He loves flying the planes, but also loves designing and bulding his own planes from unexpected materials. YES they fly and fly well. He stares into space for hours and then grabs the pencil and starts drawing the plan, the next thing i know there is ANOTHER plane in the hangar.

This is his latest design and is very creative, can you guess what material he used to build this plane below? answer tomorrow.

I must say these planes are very lovely and I can't wait to show Phil! I love the bi-plane and the one with the twin jet thingys in the back. Bob is very talented, did he used to work in some kind of building or engineering job? Now for the plane material. Well, it really looks like styrofoam, so that's my guess. As to what the styrofoam had been used for, could be egg cartons maybe.

I think I just got the same error box that you did when trying to comment to me, so I'll try to be short. I love the bi-plane and the jet with the twin thingys in the back. Can't wait to show Phil! Did Bob work in building or engineering? He's very talented! I'm guessing the plane is styrofoam. Maybe from egg cartons?

Even though I got the "Error could not complete your request" box, I see it went through, so now there's both my comments, pretty much duplicated!

Bob is very clever and talented. I knew he loved to fly planes but not that he designed/built them. I also wonder what he did in his working live & if it's related. As for the material, I also think styrofoam but have no idea where it came from-don't think egg carton, maybe it's from some kind of packaging.

Very cool planes. My Dad build model planes but they were not remote controled.
The plane looks like it's made of styrofoam but it could also be Balsa wood because it's lightweight, but it looks almost too light in color to be Balsa but then again...LOL! Thanks for driving me nuts!! Ha-ha!

I need to add a PS to this post, the only planes that were designed and built by bob on this post is the last one and the jet on the side bar. half his planes are built from kits i order off the intenet and half are his designs.
Catherine asked what he used to do before retirment, he is a retired auto mechanic

Woohooo I love it when I guess right. :o)

Those planes are spectacular! I love RC planes. I don't fly them myself but my dad used to when I was a kid so any time I see/hear them I am taken back in time. :o)

What a fabulous hobby your hubby has, Sandra.... I would hate to fly those gorgeous planes --for fear of losing or breaking them...

My brother used to make model airplanes --and so did at least one of my sons....

I have no idea what the material is --but I know it is very lightweight... Maybe it's some kind of thin wood.

Hope you have had a good day.
Hugs,
Betsy

It's nice that your addictions go so well together. Your husband has built some beautiful planes and you got some great pictures of them. As far as the material is concerned, I also think it is styrofoam, but I'm not sure it's from an egg carton.

Styrofoam?

I love the bi-plane, and the jet and all of them. I have a fascination with planes and since we live near a small airport (well, not so small it was build during WWII and has a huge runway) I get to see all different kinds.

My hubby is a registered pilot but he let his license lapse because it got so expensive, RC would be a little better, lol. Your hubs is a retired mechanic? Mine is an un-retired mechanic.

I think the material used for the plane is Styrofoam meat trays.

How nice to have addictions that complement each other! Thanks for the camera information. Right now I have a good "point and shoot". I'm thinking it might be better to go to a local camera shop that has been around for over thirty years than to a big box store. I'm sure it will be more expensive but feel that I might get the help I need. Just need to further educate myself before I go in.

Best,
Bonnie

Well, you have a perfect combination of talents. He can build and you can click what he builds.

I wondered what Bob did for a living, too....and styrofoam?

Isn't it great when you've both got hobbies. I would die if all I did was watch tv.
Is the plane made from polystyrene of some sort?

Fun hobby and love the shots of the planes. Guessing styrofoam?

Hi Sandra, How fun that your hobbies compliment one another! Love your photos of Bob's super plane creations. Looks like styrofoam to me also. I remember those cheap light-weight wood planes from when we were kids. They always broke within the first two minutes!

It worked and the comments came too.

Those are some really cool planes. It must be exciting to have a jet on your kitchen counter. I love the biplane. Does Bob have an Ag Cat? That is my favorite plane to watch. There is one here that flies over our yard on his way to the airport.

My guess is Styrofoam meat trays. They are flat and come in lots of sizes.
