The Same But "Different"

Only 7 of the large blooms today... about 10 more ready to pop tomorrow.

Playing with manual  F/Stop. above is with exposure set at +0.7 F/6.3

exposure at -1 F/stop 6.3

See Side Bar for the difference Close Up Makes

both of these were taken with the same settings 1 second apart. the only difference is I stepped a foot closer.
who knows why the difference. I sure don't.
This is the whole moss ross plant, a couple of you asked what the plant looks like. this is in hubby's bucket garden.

It's a mystery!!!! Sometimes, I take a picture I love with certain settings... Then --I'll try it again later and it doesn't work.... duh!!!!! I don't have a clue why or why not.... BUT--it's fun to try new things...

Your pictures are great ---all of them!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Our plants are nothing like yours I enjoy seeing such unusual things. Of course, we often go to the Chicago Botanic Gardens where plants are shown from all over the world. There are so many southern plants that I wish I could have in my midwest garden but the harsh winters do them in.

I'm getting closer to a "real" camera purchase. Am narrowing down a few things but am pretty sure I'll get the Canon EOS Rebel T1. Can't wait!

Best,
Bonnie

You are certainly learning a lot as a result of your experiments with your camera. And I am certainly enjoying seeing the results!

The ones on the sidebar are beautiful! One step closer makes it darker? Could it have been your shadow? I can really see the difference, we'd better be careful when we snap flowers now!

Hi Sandra love the photos and noticed you been playing with f/stops and exposure. I have been doing some searching for HDR using photoshop 7, and found this tutorial for you
http://e-cj.deviantart.com/art/Photoshop-7-HDRi-Tutorial-V-2-85956989
Click on the page in the centre and follow instructions. Unfortunately you need to take three images at different exposures so a tripod is a must. It will be no good for moving objects.

Moss Roses are so pretty, I had some at a house in GA but I don't think they will grow here.

A foot will make a difference, it changes the focal length. Practicing is always fun. I really need to find some film for my old SLR and see what it will do one of these days.

Love that sidebar picture with the flower held by your husband, it shows the size of it. It's really tricky getting size of flowers and plants across sometimes.
