Happy Birthday to ME!

I was born on September 5th, 1944 (save your brain cells 66 is the answer) and it amazes me beyond belief that it is now September 5th,  2010.

AND HERE I AM IN THE   "Future"

***********
I grew up in the 50's , This is future seen from 1950

"Do you suppose television will ever reach our part of the country?"
*
"I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now."
*
"It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet."
*
"It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work."
*
"I'll tell you one thing. If my kid ever talks back to me, they won't be able to sit down for a week."
*
"Did you know the new church in town is allowing women to wear slacks to their service?"
*
"Next thing you know is, the government will start paying us not to grow crops."
*
"I'm just afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business."
*
"Anymore no one can afford to be sick, $35 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood."
*
"If a few idiots want to risk their necks flying across the country that's fine, but nothing will ever replace trains."
*
I don't know about you but if they raise the price of coffee to 15 cents, I'll just have to drink mine at home."
*
"If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it. I'll have my wife learn to cut hair."
*
"Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress."
*
"Anymore no one can afford to be sick, $35 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood."
*
"If a few idiots want to risk their necks flying across the country that's fine, but nothing will ever replace trains."
*
"I don't know about you but if they raise the price of coffee to 15 cents, I'll just have to drink mine at home."
*
"If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it. I'll have my wife learn to cut hair."

Happy, happy birthday!!!!! If I had my new camera, I'd post a video of me singing to you! Love your post today! Here's my birthday advice: Celebrate (that means cake and presents) for the entire month starting the day of your birthday. Works for me. Of course, my birthday is in the cold of winter (January) and long celebrations are a must.

The camera comes with two lenses (18-55 and 55-250) and, when I get really good (and can let go of more money) I can order more. As my son says "when you want to have a telephoto lens to capture your grandsons (Huh, what grandsons?) on the soccer field"!!

Again, happy happy

Best,
Bonnie

Wasn't growing up in the 50's a lot of fun? Oh yeah..there was cold war a missile threats somewhere but heck...we didn't know that. For some reason, it all changed when Kennedy died.

Happy Birthday Sandra. I can remember as a kid trying to figure out if I could possibly live long enough to see the new century/millenium, and I remember when they brought our first television in our house, which of course was black & white. Yep, I was also born in the 40's just a few years after you, so make this the best birthday you can and have a ball.

Today I Celebrate YOU!!

What a wonderful creation God has given us in you, my Friend!
You are still a work in progress. You just keep getting better every day in every way!

I, too, believe that the 50s were the best years to be a child. We didn't have to lock our homes or our cars. We actually went outside and PLAYED without needing special equipment. We didn't have "play dates", "soccer moms", or "stay-at-home dads", or schools with state-of-the-art security.
We were the Blessed Generation!

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Happy Birthday Sandra!

I wonder what sort of quotes from today will be quoted in the future. Maybe something like:

"Nothing can ever replace the iPhone."

"Gas will never go over $5.00 a gallon."

Who knows?

Happy belated birthday! (sorry I'm late) Great post, as Squirrel Queen says, I wonder what we will be quoting in the future about now?

Great post!! Crystal sings Happy Birthday better than most! Especially me! I do remember all those predictions and more. Wonder what we are looking at in the future? Who da thunk we would actually live in "the future?" Hope you had a good day. We met when we were 14, (?) wasn't it, and now we are 66! We have seen 52 birthdays since then. God willing, I'll be looking at ya next year kid..... Love ya lots!!!

Well, I'm just a year older than you and I'm right there with you on the 1950's quotes. I think I have said a good portion of them or heard my parents say the same type of thing. Too funny.
Happiest of birthdays.
