Checkers Burgers

I thought I would say a little about Checkers, since most of you had never heard of it. These photos were taken on a Saturday Morning 5 AM trip to Wal-Mart.

Per Wikipedia, Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. is the largest chain of double drive-thru restaurants in the middle eastern part of the country.

Most people just drive through and get a bag of 1.00 burgers and pull out and drive the 8 minutes to one of our local beaches. There are pic nic tables if you want to smell the auto exhaust while you eat. they are 10 feet off of the busiest road in our county, one of 2 that go to the beaches

Checkers  sell cheap burgers, 99 cents, fries, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and wings and sodas, that is all that is on the menu.

There is only one in our town but the company operates more than 815 Checkers and Rally's restaurants in 28 states and the District of Columbia with restaurants also operating in Israel and American Samoa.
We have only had burgers from there once about 10 years ago on the way to a beach outing. I am a Wendy's person if I decide I want a burger. Mostly I eat the ones my hubby grills in the back yard.
I just liked the NEON.....

That place sounds like a winner to me Sandra. The one thing I loved about the USA was the prices. Here we pay about $30 for a hamburger and chips!!

For us living here, things are very expensive. I would pay about $7 for a loaf of bread and the same for a can of soda. A small house costs $2,500,000 and an average car $250,000. For overseas visitors though, things are dirt cheap because of the exchange rate so the bread and the can of soda would cost them less than $1 each. Does not seem fair does it? :(

The red light of this restaurant looks so attractive at night.

Lovely set of images Sandra really like the table shot 3rd one down. What were you doing going shopping at 5am I would still be snoring.

I find this all kind of fascinating. I have never heard of the place except from you! I was going to ask you how each item tasted, now you must buy one of each to taste and report back to your followers! Those picnic table umbrellas, I guess they are supposed to be checkers, but they look like giant frisbees to me, Jake and Baby Girl would love to eat there. They would gobble the burgers, then play giant frisbee, WOOF!!

We have a local hamburger stand similar to Checkers here in Southern California. It's called In-N-Out Burger. They make one of the best burgers in the state. If your ever in So. Cal. you have to try one :-)

Love the header Sandra, definitely fall! Checkers are in our neck of the woods too! Looks very retro lit up in the dark.

I've heard of and seen both Checkers and Rallys ---but I don't think there are any left around here... They popped up all over the place ---but didn't do well... SO--there aren't any left. Darn!!!!!

Love your header..... Have a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy

That looks like a fun little place. I've heard of Rally's and I think I even ate there once in Louisville, KY but don't remember any Checkers.

I love these photos. Sounds like Checkers hasn't made it to the West Coast yet but Rally's has, I have seen them in CA. But I'm with the Old Geezer, when I go to SoCal I want an In & Out burger...yummy!
