So beautiful! Two other things: 1) The flower in the top photo that is behind the purple, emerges from the sharply pointed leaves and is navy blue and reddish bloom is a Friendship Plant. It also has other names. My husband's aunt gave me one before she died. Another pix and info is at my Nov. 29, 2009 post at www.retirementdaze.com. Sorry, don't know how to link that. 2) About the "tainted" joke. When casinos moved into the Mississippi Gulf Coast adjacent to a marine education center, the administrator, a friend of mind was asked if she would accept "tainted money" from the casinos. Her response, "The only thing tainted about it is it taint enough!"

I love the header flower. It's amazing it is only 2" across, I've never seen anything like that before.

I love your sharp header, with the black background and that pop of red!! The first picture, it looks like a Bird Of Paradise in back, in the front I've never seen anything like it. The orchid is spectacular, It looks like a real fancy hot house one. And I see you have color co-ordinated all your flowers today, how very thoughtful! Well, someone told me that ANYTHING can grow in Florida!!

Oh, I needed flowers and color today, too. All I see outside is gray skies and snow! I don't know what the front flower in the first shot is, but we saw them in Costa Rica. They were beautiful!!

The header looks like a regular hybiscus to me. I have never seen a 2" hybiscus. It is beautiful. A very sharp picture. You know I love the orchids. Keep snapping....

These are gorgeous Sandra! Did you know the Big Island is actually the orchid isle? Well, the top one is a Bromeliad. I love those. I don't have that one but antother very similar! I like that blue..if you look at it it's truly exotic! I take a zillion off another and those chameleons love them! But they make fabulous macros.
I have one orchid that's managed to survive (indoor fussy type)- my younger son (his friend grows them) gave me..the ones that I fix to trees do the very best! Florida is such a lovely place..and I've never visited (sniff)

You brought me fond memories, my parents grew orchids in Borneo.

My mom is trying to grow orchids. The one she got at Walmart that is in the wrong kind of container... bloomed from November 2009 to September 2010 without stopping. It quit for two months and in December, began blooming again. It was not expensive. The expensive ones she got at the nursery and had them pot them in special pots... well.. one looks dead and the others haven't bloomed in six months. Go figure.

I love seeing orchids, they are one of those flowers I don't even attempt to grow. The hibiscus is gorgeous.
