pitcher plant

One of my favorite plants at Selby is the Pitcher Plant. pitcher plants are carnivorous and feed on insects.
they fascinate me because they are so ugly they are cute.

When I look at these, I start to sing,
I'm a little teapot, short and stout, here's my handle ,here's my spout, when I get all steamed up, here me shout, tip me over and pour me out. (if you are singing and doing the actions you may have worked in day care)
I

Helen: Mum, do you know what I'm going to give you for your birthday? Mum: No, dear, what? Helen: A nice teapot. Mum: But I've got a nice teapot. Helen: No you haven't. I've just dropped it

Q: Why don't you ever iron a four-leaf clover?

: You might press your luck.

What Starts With "T" What Ends With "T" & It Is Full Of "T"? Teapot.

Great Photos. A gruesome looking flower for sure.
Even spikes at the top to head off any chance of escape.
And Yes I started singing "I'm alittle tea pot"

I don't think I've ever seen a Pitcher plant before. It is an unusual plant. I wonder if it does a good job of insect control?

With the right accessories, it might make a nice purse. Perhaps even a mail pouch. But as a plant, nah, just doesn't work!!!

Strange-looking things. I certainly wouldn't want it as a purse (thinking of Ginny's comment), considering that its carnivorous! LOL Not sure I'd like my tea from it either...

SMILING! Thank you! Those are some funny but super cool plants! We don't have those in Minnesota. If we did they would be full of "ice water"! Or mabye just ice!

Ya..I like useful plants like this too! I enjoy gourds for the same reason..and the lufa sponges (I grew both- and used them). Great photos of an intriguing little plant!

Totally unlike the pitcher plants that are all around the coast here. I guess both kinds catch and digest insects though. Ours are graceful and quite pretty.

I love these but I had forgotten all about them. A friend of mine in GA had one and it always fascinated me.
