What Happened to the Hearts???

I am sure all of you remember candy hearts, the ones with sweet sayings on them, that were not really all that good to eat but fun. They were pastel colors and had words like you see below.
(I had none of them to take pictures of so had to get creative)

I wanted to make valentines and started searching for quotes. my first search brought up something that horrified me.
A whole new generation of Candy Hearts.

you rock, I heart you, talk 2 me, email me, awesome (these are not so bad and I GET IT, but read on)
Try a bag of hearts with these words....
Booty 2 Big
Return my CD's
So Go Alone
Mommy Issues
King of Pain
XPLTI leted (no idea on this one)
We Had Plans
U Turn me Off
No Mon No Fun (what?)
4 ever alone
peaked at 17
he fit u fat
he can kiss
lov ur butt
night mare
strike three
They are selling these on line and I am sitting here in total amazment at our New World, strike three indeed.

Oh wow, I haven't seen those yet. I found some the other day with things like Diva and Holla Back which cute.

XPLTIleated would, I believe, be expletive deleted. Having a college kid I can tell you for sure that No Mon(ey), No Fun!

I like the ones you made best.

Dear Sandra, I too would like to know what happened to the hearts but what I can say is that your hearts are really lovely and that you are a big heart…you are simply a person of that kind. :-))
I am sorry I haven't been around for so long. I haven't been active bloger lately. There seems to be never enough time for me.

Just more proof of the cruel, crazy world we live in! I love to eat the little hearts. A hold-over from childhood. They are one of my favorite candies. Pure sugar! I have the end of a bag in my pantry as we speak. Mine say the sweet old fashioned sayings. I have never seen the ones you found and don't want to. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. That is what we were taught..."
Happy Valentine's to all!

That is definitely a worry. Your creative little hearts are what we need more of.

Not sure we ever had that kind of candy hearts here. Valentines celebrations have not been very big in our traditions until more recently by American influence through TV etc.

Oh My Gosh---It's a different world these days than it was when we were young, or even when our kids were young.

Kids have their own languages these days --due to texting, emailing, etc.. Wonder if they are even learning how to write a good sentence???? My granddaughter's emails almost make NO sense to me.. Guess I'd hate to be an English teacher in the schools these days... Good Luck to them!!!!

I miss those simpler days --of the simple words like KISS, HUG, LOVE, etc... Oh Well!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Sometimes I think progress isn't progress at all. I remember the old-fashioned candy kisses very well, and always looked forward to their appearance at this time of the year.
I can do without the modern versions, but I do like your hearts very much.

I love your hearts!!! Did you make them? Way cool!!! This doesn't surprise me at all. Seems everything nice in the world has a counterpart that's corrupted by the devil. Remember the movie "My Bloody Valentine"?

Yikes-that is a disappointment!

I always buy the gentle ones for my grandson. It is funny he is so serious about what is on the heart and who he gives it too!

Now that is just not right. They should not have messed with good old candy hearts. I understand that times change, but really, has "hug me" gone out of style?...lol

Ah ha ha.."Booty 2 big. & he fit you fat!! I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise? Of course I remember those hearts, but I haven't tried looking for them? Very pretty~

Thanks for the information Sandra! I had no idea the hearts have changed course. But why not, nothing is the same. Even our candy! I grew up with those hearts and I loved them. Little did I know my wedding day would be on Valentines Day. Back then it was a neat date. However today it is all about raising prices on that day for everything from dinner to flowers, candy, etc. Reservations have to be made well in advance. For a few years my husband and I changed our date to the 13th. We never thought Valentines Day would become another national holiday!

I guess its not "cool" to be kind and loving anymore. How very sad. Yours are the best. love the treatment of them.

That's just Gross and somebody is making money from it!!!

Valentine's Day is about LOVE not insults.

Perhaps a conspiracy, trying to keep us from eating candy all together! Valentine's Day is my least favorite holiday.. perhaps because I have no valentine of my own. Nor am I looking for one at this point.
