Cemetery Commentary

the cemetery where my ancestors rest, was built in the then town of Forgartyville by the Fogarty Family.

Fogartyville is full of beautiful architecture.

The rusted door, so beautiful

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
John 11:25

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”  1 Cor 15:54

I do hope no one is offended by this post, I love old cemeterys, they are commentarys on lives from the past and present, peaceful in appearance, steeped in sadness, full of memories both happy and sad.

I'm not at all offended by your cemetery photos. I find them fascinating. The Chicago area has many beautiful and interesting cemeteries where historic and colorful people are buried. Many designed their elaborate structures. In one such cemetery, the lake front (Lake Michigan) plots are going for $40,000 and up!

Best,
Bonnie

The monuments in these old cemeterys are fantastic. The expense in our time would be stagering. I like to drive through Boniventure cemetery down in Savannah, There are some beautiful monuments there. Did you take your pet lizard with you ? LOL

I enjoy old cemeteries, they are history lessons in a way. I really like the detail of the rusty door and door knob.

I really loved this post Sandra. Cemeteries are wonderful places to walk through so much history there. My grandmother on my dad's side was a Hollingsworth. I believe her father is buried in Oldsmar.

Not offended at all - death is part of life as much as living is. What a big old monument. I think it is very interesting to know about your past and where you come from.

I actually love pictures of cemeteries. I have a few myself and there are a couple that I want to visit when the weather gets better. I love that picture of the rusted door.

I have never lived in Florida or California and when I see the palm trees it still seems unusual and unreal.. our redbuds are blooming and the ornamental pear are starting. Spring is just around the corner, but I am keeping the pots on the patio wrapped with the bubble wrap for a few more days... maybe until April... we often get a hard freeze thrown in in March.

Not at all offended, I love spending time in old cemeteries. I have walked though many on both coasts. Bonaventure in Savannah was a favorite of mine when I live in GA.
