Evening Mourning Dove

Forty Feet in the air, sat a cooing Mourning Dove, first is out of the camera
Mourning Doves are so friendly and non agressive, a person or pet or predator can walk right up to them. The sound of thier cooing in early AM or early evening fills me with joy they like platforms or trees, not bird houses

2nd is a little touch up from Photoshop

What did the baby chick say when he saw his mother sitting on an orange ? 'Dad, dad, look what marma-laid' !

3rd is a little more touch up.
.
A couple of pigeons made a date to meet on the ledge outside the tenth floor of a skyscraper. The female was there on time, but the male arrived an hour late. "Where were you? I was worried sick." "It was such nice day, I decided to walk."

It almost looks like it was carved out of wood!

In the early morning here I can lie in bed and just listen to the doves cooing. I just love that sound. Then, always in the early mornings, add the far faraway sound of a train going through downtown Mesa. I don't know what there is about the sound of a train whistle, but it's very comforting and very soothing.

Beautiful pictures of the Mourning Doves, Sandra. We have them here --and I love to hear their cooing. All of our birds are singing like crazy today... It's 'mating time' in Tennessee... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Love them too, but they are hogs at our bird feeder. Your pix 1, 2 and 3 were like those puzzles in the paper. . . you know, find the differences. Thanks with enjoyable moments with nature, technology and laughs!

Great capture and Photo Editing, Sandra. I've been stalking my feeders and bird bath for a shot of the White Wing Dove...so far I'm getting Sparrows. The Dove are a bit skittish and I'm not fast enough to catch them...yet! But I will! In the meantime, I'm getting some pretty Sparrow Shots!

Great blog. I love the header. Doves seem to have a peaceful look about them. They even sound mournful. If you've ever seen a doves nest you would be shocked. It is so flimsy. If you ever see one you can come back later and find eggs laying on the ground.

Lovely shots of the mourning dove. I am starting to see them in this area again but they don't coo that much, more like a very loud owl sound.
