Can you guess where/how I took these photos? answer at the end of the post
My first car was a 56 Chevy, what was yours?
I listened to this song and others like it in my 56 Chevy

The number ONE Doo Wop song of all time....

When I visited my friend Rich last week, he had been to Old Town at Orlando. this is a lighted framed photo that is Poster sized. I COULD NOT RESIST.... MadSnapper Snaps Any and Every thing

My favorite song was  by The Platters, Only You.. I spent many quarters in the Juke Box playing it over and over. we got 5 songs for a quarter..... wonder what we can buy with a quarter now?

Glad to see Rich is doing well.

I love the music of the 50s! My first car was a 1975 Mustang--midnight navy with a white interior.

Thanks for the memories.

Best,
Bonnie

Okay here are my memories. When I listened to In The Still of the Night I immediately traveled back in time to Chief Moses Jr. High. At lunchtime they always played records and we could dance to the music. We always felt like it was American Bandstand. And 'Only YOu' not only take me back to that time but I went to see the Platters in Salt Lake at Lagoon Amusement Park. There were about a million people all standing around watching them.

Yep. The 50's were nothing like anything that came after those years. It was such a short time and a great few years.

oh.. so nice post.)
Love your blog.))

I now spend a survey of bloggers with such questions.
1. Why did you create a blog?
2. For whom you taking him? Want to be popular?
3. How long will it keep going?

Well, I don't know a thing about the 1950's....that was a LONG time ago....but I asked Beth and she said she remembers those days VERY well! She has always wanted a 1957 Chevy. Copper and cream....she said she still wants one! I don't know if I would fit in there very well!

Happy days are here again!! At least in Madsnapperland! Love the poster shots! And I LOVED those songs!! How about "Stand By ME"??? My favorite!!! I loved the fifties, it was innocent, but no computers, ARRGG! We didn't know what we were missing, no cell phones or remotes or color T.V. But wouldn't you say we made a very bad trade-off? Serial killers, terrorists, gangs and school shootings. Makes the gangs in West Side Story all look like Pollyannas!

I think you have hit on my favorite era and my favorite group at one time. I think I lived a lifetime in the 50's alone. Graduated from High School in 51, Married in 53, first child in 54, Debbie, 2nd child in 56, Diane, Norman was drafted into the army in 57, went to Germany in 59. What more needs said. BTW, first car was a 47 Oldsmobile, two tone green. Nothing brings back memories like music. I loved the Platters and groups like that when you could understand what they were saying and they dressed in Tuxes and long gowns. Unfortunately, the 60's changed all of that. Was it the Vietnam war, or birth control pills that caused a serious attitude change. Maybe both. Norman stayed in the army and also went to Vietnam in 1968. Not a good time.

I love the 50's music - lots of good memories - and oh yeah, the jukeboxes. The first car Jimmie and I bought together was actually an old Ford on Guam - it was in pretty good shape but over there most of the cars showed rust because of the humidity, which stayed around 85%. When we were planning to come home & drive from CA to WI to GA we bought an English Ford - of course on Guam it didn't have a heater so a local guy installed one - kinda makeshift but it worked! Not your classic 50's cars but they were nice! That little English Ford had a pretty rough time going up the mountains! A big rig even motioned for us to go around him up one mtn but we couldn't!!! Not enough power.

Our first car was not a 56 chevy but we had one later and it was our all time favorite.. When Jimmy was in Germany the first time he wrote and told me he wanted a 56 black and white hard top when he got home.. My brother in law and I spend many Sat. and Sundays driving around looking on the car lots in Tampa and low and behold we found one. I got that car and had it waiting for him when he got home.. We kept it and even took it to Germany with us when he went again and the kids and I could go with him. We drove it over there for 3 years and sold it just before we came back to the states. We had that car over 6 years and sure did hate to part with it.. While in Germany we ordered a brand new 64 chevy Impala..That was the days

They simply don't make hamburgers like they did at these places... and the foamy root beer served in frosty mugs... nothing like it now.

I love that poster!

While I love all the cool stuff from the 50's I really don't remember any of it. I've heard both of the songs but it was a few years later. I grew up with the Elvis and the Beatles.

Sandra, all this time I thought you and I were about the same age. I wasn't even old enough to go to school when you graduated.

What a great morning for a trip to the past! Good morning - hope you have a great one.

I was wondering what in the world - how did she get those pictures - knew you had a trick up your sleeve.

My first car was my brothers old Volkswagen Beetle i think it was a 1968 - metallic blue - (painted) - with a stick shift!

Great post.
