Did You Ever??

Did you are Do you ever go to parties where they sell things and you really don't want to go but feel you have to? The last one I attended was about 14 years ago.

Cousin Shari called and invited me to A Pampered Chef at her home. All of you who follow me should know by now I DO NOT COOK! I despise COOKING!

(note: it has not been in the freezer, or microwave and I don't own a dishwasher so it is a safe bet it has not been in a dishwasher either)

I went because she is my cousin, but that was the last time. I came home fussing because I felt I HAD to buy something. this mixing bowl/measure cup with lid was the cheapest thing, 12.99, that I thought I might find a use for.
Hubby loves this 2 quart giant cup thingy. He mixes pancakes in it  on Sunday Mornings.

I love it because HE mixes Pancakes for Me in it.....
SO Sorry! once again I walked in the kitchen and the sun was shining on it.

Blame HUBBY, he  did not put it back in the cabinet when he cooked my breakfast. WHINING NOW

I JUST LOVE what Sunbeams do to the ordinary STUFF. Hope you do toooooo

Oh my goodness, it looks like it is surrounded by electricity!!! It is a real good all purpose item to buy if you felt you had to buy something. So many uses I can think of. I have been to a few of this kind of parties. One for baskets, I forget the rest. And if it's a friend, you DO feel like you have to buy something to help them out. Better for me just not to go and give an excuse. Unless it's something I may really want.

It's been about 14 years since I went to one of those parties too. You do feel obligated to buy something usually because the person is a good friend or relative. I do like that measuring cup. Love your sunny shots. The next to last one would look nice framed and hanging in a kitchen.

we must all feel the same about those parties. The best thing I ever bought was a Wok. It has lasted for 20 years. The sunbeams look great on the glass. Don't whine about him not putting it away when he has cooked for you. Bill cooks in our house but I clean up and put away.

The sunbeams are pretty nice! I don't go to those parties nor do I host them. Any of them. I hate feeling obligated to buy something!

at least he cleaned it. You know some husbands cook and leaves a giant mess.

Go to those so-called-Parties???

Once. Way back when I was too young and shy to say NO.

Never again.

In fact, I think I was strong enough, way back then, and poor enough too, to not buy ANYTHING. -chuckle-

Anyway..... NO! They are Forced Buying. I don't *do* Forced Buying.

Lovely, lovely, lovely photo op!!!

So your hubby dose the cooking. You are lucky, Sandra. Yes I have been to those parties too. Nice reflective shots.

love the way the shadows dance, perfect pictures.

As for those parties, I always hated to get roped into those and up front I would have to ask if it was a selling party. For me, I do not think its right to ask friends over then surprise them. Most of the time it was items that did not appeal to me.

I know exactly what you mean about those parties. If there wasn't anything I needed I still felt obligated to buy something to help whoever is hosting the party. About 10 years ago I had quite a few Princess House parties. I did it so I could get the cookware and some other beautiful pieces.

I just love the shadows from the sunbeams. I really like the ones on the wall that look like different shades of blue. :)

i bought that exact same thing at the last pampered chef party i ever went to. and yes, hubby uses it for waffles and pancakes... :)

I also like the sunbeams and the measuring cup. It sounds as if you made a good buy when you purchased this -- hubby uses it to make breakfast for you.

I have overcome the idea that I HAVE to buy when invited to a party.Perhaps that's why I don't get many invitations, but that's fine by me.The measuring jug is certainly good for pictures.

Sunbeams look great with almost everything! Great pics!

You're funny!!! I love going to parties and looking at all the pretty stuff. I don't cook either or should I say, I don't like to cook! However, I sure do have a lot of pamper chef stuff around!

I haven't been to any of these parties since I was in my early twenties. In fact, I haven't even heard of one in years. I wouldn't go if I were invited. It's kind of like taking advantage of a friendship to invite someone. That's just how I feel. I'm sure many people enjoy hosting and many enjoy being invited.

Best,
Bonnie

Great shots, Sandra. The light is amazing!

Yes, I have gone to such parties...in fact, I went to one last Friday evening. Why did I go? It makes me so angry that I did, actually, even though I did want to support my neighbour. I bought something I really do not want. Next time I must say NO!

Yes I've been to parties like that : ) I have a bowl just like that one-and I love it!! I use it all the time. And yes I love the sunbeams too : )

Lucky you to have a husband who makes pancakes for you AND leaves things on the sink so that the sun and you and your camera can turn them into art! ;)

Yes I've been to a few parties like that but long time ago... early/mid 90's? Tupperware. One thing I bought is a plastic bowl with a loose grid at the bottom and a tight lid, to keep lettuce in the fridge. The condensed water runs down under the grid and the lettuce keeps fresh longer. It was not cheap but considering I've been using it daily for something like 20 years now I guess it was actually worth what it cost then!

I like the photos of the sunbeams, makes a great contrast against the glass. Nice bowl by the way :) And I bet it's a great bowl for mixing pancakes.

Hi Sandra, Great photos... Yes---I've been to a few of those parties. I hated them just like you did. Haven't been to one in many years (thank goodness) and won't attend anymore of them...

I'm not a party person PERIOD... I don't like showers or hardly any kind of parties.. Never have... (Guess I'm a party pooper! ha ha)

Hugs,
Betsy

Yup - that's why I don't go to those parties! Ha!

Like your cups of sunshine though! :)

I absolutely hate those parties and avoid them at all costs. I'm like you though. If there's one that I am more or less obligated to go to I look for the cheapest thing that I might use. Nine times out of ten it's going to be something I don't want but I feel like I have to buy something.

What a perfect use for a measuring cup and sunlight!

I meant to tell you the other day, I have been noticing the sunbeams in our bedroom...and trying to think how to do them hitting a quilt...in a quilt not a photograph...

I can't say I like those parties either - I always feel obligated to buy something too - at least Bob liked it and you are getting pancakes out of the deal. sandie

I do love it! I especially love to capture the everyday objects that color our lives. Lovely shot!

Well I do like to cook, have been to these parties, not a big fan of them, just want to know how many kitchen gadgets a person needs? I haven't been to one in a few years now only because I finally said NO! I finally have stopped getting invites. So happy and no longer feel obligated. Cool shot of your measuring cup.

Val said...

ordinary made extraordinary!! and I don't like going to those parties either!! :)

Debby@Just Breathe said...

I always go to those parties because I would rather support my friends than actually hold a party.
I never do them myself because nobody comes! I don't care much for cooking anymore but I own a lot of Pampered Chef items and they are one of the better parties to purchase something at. So sweet of you to support your cousin.

Yes! And I. too, love my 2 qt pyrex measuring cup. I cook my 1 serving of old-fashioned oatmeal in it in the microwave. It is a good option for a stroky whose therapists say no use of stove unless I don a super dooper oven mitt and protective heat proof sleeve.

They fear my unpredictable left arm would land on a burner and I would experience dire injury cause of no sensory input on left side. No thanks. I will stick with microwave, and be extra careful with that measuring cup, too.

Ahhh Sandra, I've missed your wit and wisdom and humor. I wish you were my neighbor. We could share excuses about why we just can't cook today. (My best excuse is that it just cuts into too much of my photography time!) I love this composition and I have to say, your photography is getting more and more interesting (not that I'm in a position to judge), and so creative! I won't comment on each post but I've enjoyed having a few minutes to catch up on your blog and loved it all.
