Java Jive!

Sidewalk Art Downtown Bradenton

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the Java Jive and it loves me
Cofee and tea and the Java and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup (boy!)

Oh slip me a slug from the wonderful mug and I'll cut a rug just snug in a jug
A sliced up onion and a raw one, Draw one, waiter, waiter, percolator.

These are words are from a song  Java Jive Written by Ben Oakland and Milton Drake  in 1940 and recorded by The Ink Spots. The Ink Spots were previously known as The Riff Brothers and The Percolating Puppies.

I haven't this song before but I like it. I think it's going to be stuck in my head for awhile. The sculpture is a fun one! I like to see downtown areas do things like this.

I don't know the song but I LOVE coffee--and lots of it!
Now I'd like to know the significance of the coffee sculpture in front of the lawyers' office.

Best,
Bonnie

The Percolating Puppies huh? That's a cute name. I've never heard the song before but I like it. I don't get the part about the sliced up onion though.

all ebony of shadow
and silver of snowy slope;
big stars were shining over the silent fields."

Gosh, I am seeing all kinds of really cool things around your town lately!!! The Geckos, the Village of The Arts, the Arcade! This is totally cool, it's like you are giving me a tour of your city! Love these coffee mugs! I remember this song very well, but didn't know all these words.

I recognized that old song from the beginning. My parents used to have music going all of the time ---and my brothers loved that music also... That song was one of many old songs I remember...

Cute post, Sandra.
Hugs,
Betsy

I remember the "Ink Spots" but I don't remember their songs. I remember the song sung by some one else and a little faster.

Sandra, I am very familiar with this song, because we have a Sirius radio subscription and listen to 40s songs a lot. But I didn't know the various names of the Ink Spots group. It's a wonderful song especially for coffee lovers like us!
