I Found Florida-Age proofing my brain

Found Fotos on my walk with Rich were all contributing to age proofing my brain....
In the AARP magazine this month, there is an article by Beth Howard "Age Proof your Brain".

The article list 10 ways to fight off Alzheimer and Dementia and is well worth the read.
One of the ten ways is  "Seek out new skills" Beth says Learning is like Rogaine for the brain, it spurs the growth of new brain cells.
The reason for the above photo is BECAUSE I COULD..... but you KNEW that, right?
Taking photos and editing photos and playing in photoshop with photos and creating post are all part of making the brain cells grow.... so Because I could is Medicine for My Brain Cells.

Check it out, we Found Florida on our stroll
Rich said "what are you taking photos of?"
"Acorns and Snail Shells" the Madly Snapping MadSnapper replied "because I can"
If you did not read the article above, number one brain cell workout is EXERCISE.. as in walking, running, pumping iron.  Recommended is 150 minutes of moderate activity. Exercise can reduce dementia by 40 to 60 percent.  HUP TWO THREE FOUR on the floor, pick up those feet.

Sounds like an interesting article, I'll take a look. I am intrigued by the second photo, it looks like someone has very carefully swept the leaves over a grate. I love that snail shell.

I always knew that taking pictures and working with them in Photoshop had to be good for the mind.Guess I will HAVE to do more of that, just to stay healthy,of course. :)

My precious mother developed dementia and passed away six months later. It is a terrible condition, made even worse by her blindness.

Looks like you were doing some exercising of the brain and the body ~ fantastic!

Your little squirrels below ~ so cute! They really are adorable aren't they? Unless they are chewing holes in your roof...then not so much. ;)

Happy Sunday Sandra!

You are just a bit too peppy this AM before I had had my coffee. The Hup 2-3-4 pick your feet up off the floor... is a no-go.

BUT I dare say you are sure building up brain cells in a fun way. I like the shell one with the sun behind it.

LOVE your new V-day header!

Hey I thought you meant 150 min A DAY which made me feel half dead, but then I went to the article and saw 150 min A WEEK... phew... I'm still alive... My feet are staying put today though, it's snowing outside. But you know I love to walk around taking photos of strange and wonderful things!

150 minutes every how often? I walk about an hour a day, but that's only 60 minutes. I can't imagine doubling that each day.

It's nice to know that all the time I spend taking pictures and working on them help me age-proof my brain, but I sometimes feel that I didn't start soon enough. It also sounds as if I need to get in more exercise each day. Did the article tell how to make the day longer?

well it's nice to know that some of the things I enjoy doing are good for my brain :)

Hi Sandra, Happy Super Bowl Sunday to you. May the best team win!!! I personally am for the Giants --but I truly just hope it is a good game. Anxious to see some great commercials also!!!

Great pictures along your walk... Glad to hear that I am 'age-proofing' my brain. I wonder sometimes if it is working, though... ha
Hugs,
Betsy

I totally agree with learning new skills. My problem is remembering some of them since repletion adds to their ability to stick. I need to keep doing some of my newly acquired skills so they are with me, part of me! Florida is waiting and I really must find a way to get there. Buddy keeps reminding me. Hubby's still not quite right but he will be and then??? yup and yippee!

Love your new header with the hearts adding a splash of red on your black and white, it's just gorgeous! These pictures that were taken "because you can" are fabulous! It seems to me you are keeping fit from head to toe! I love learning from you. I already learned about the hand exercises from you and I've passed that on to my grandma. :) Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Thank you for that link! My mother passed away in december at age 92. She exercised even when her health was limiting the amount she could do. And her mind was sharp even as she slipped in and out of consciousness just prior to her final hours.

I love that you are exercising those brain cells. I am more likely to try that than I am to really get out and exercise. I also love photography and editing. So fun!

I just love your pictures Sandra! They are always so different but yet they make you feel as though you can reach in and touch those acorns and that shell! They look like they are right there. Great job!

Do I have to do 150 minutes of moderate exercise every day? :))

Another good reason for me to get on the treadmill! I'm thinking I should have been exercising more a long time ago.

When you said pumping iron, you meant like when I jump up and down to iron my quilt blocks as I make them didn't you? I am sure that is what you meant!HHH
