Post Script. 27 Years

Bathroom is GOLD, it came that way, we both hate gold but love sunshine
Sunshine on the bed in below story

P.S. JUST IN CASE you think our marriage is perfect from my glowing report yesterday.
“Opposites attract” but Bob and I are two peas in a pod.  We are so much alike it is scary.
Yes, I know lace is OUT, but we want privacy AND sunshine

The good news is we both like the same food, the same restaurants; love the beach and the woods. We even love the same trucks and cars. We both love all things Sunshine and feel depressed if it does not shine, we like the windows open in daylight and sun streaming in. we love our house and bought it because it is Sunny and bright.
Kitchen window always has sunshine

The bad news is: we both have fiery tempers with short fuses and we both are stubborn as mules and both of us are control freaks, as in we know the best way to drive, repair things etc.
The good news is…. We both have a sense of humor and both are quick to get over ourselves and both admit to our faults.

He never makes the bed, I mean never. I came home once and he said come look in the bedroom.  I looked and said WHAT? He pointed at the ceiling fan that used to have FIVE blades and now had FOUR?
I said. You made the bed, what happened? Here is the story.
The dryer cut off and he decided to put the sheets back on the bed, it is the biggest King size made. He put on the sheets and flapped the blanket. Our blanket does not FLAP. It requires running around the bed to spread it out.
He said the fan was on, he flapped the blanket  HARD and then when he went to smooth it out, he could not get the lump out of the middle of the bed, he took the blanket off and there laid the fan blade, he did not even know the blanket snatched it off.
We laughed until we cried…. And that is what has enabled us to stay together, Love and a sense of humor. YES, there are times I want to choke him and he me…..
Below is The Way We Were from old scanned photos.   WHAT HAPPENED??

A Belated Happy Anniversay, it sounds like you have the most wonderful realtionship, laughter, and forgiving, are important !
I couldn't help but laugh at the bed story, sounds like something the First Sergeant would do, maybe most men ?
You both are indeed beautiful people, inside and out.

Oh my gosh, the fan story sounds like something my hubby would do too. I think a good sense of humor is a necessity in any marriage, it keeps things from getting too serious.

I just noticed that the plants outside your bedroom window seem to match your decor. Now that's decorating!

We laughed until we cried: in deed you have a great story that will last a life time. Imagine if you were in bed, and the blade flew to you, horror movie in th emaking.

That is too funny of a story to be laughing this early in the AM, I have yet to have my coffee but thank you for the laugh!

I like your lace sheers and especially with the light behind them.

You guys, such a hot couple... looks like Bob has always had that beard. Look at how tan you both are.

Missed your post yesterday so now I'm on my way to catch up. I love this post. And your house is oh so pretty. And Clean!!!!! If I took a picture of mine right now ..... well, you can be sure I won't. I clean it up well at times but it NEVER STAYS LIKE THAT. I can't figure out why. My aunt's house ALWAYS was and looked meticulous. Sighhhhhhhhh.......

I love that bed making story. My hubby thought that it was a waste of time to make the bed, after all we would only mess it up again when we got in it in the evening. GUess who always made the bed?

It's great that you both have a sense of humour. It certainly helps to smooth out life's wrinkles.

I love the story about the broken fan blade. :))

Whooooooooooo-Hoooooooooooo! You showed the honeymoon pics!

And you gave him a hard time, when he first kept trying to *come around*???? Wow! You really MUST have had a hard time of it, previous to him. -grin-

But now is now! Hooray!!!

And who says lace is out???? Who dare say such a thing? Show to me! I'll tell 'em a thing or two. So there! ,-)

You have a beautiful home. You sound like you are the PERFECT match and that is why you have such a great marriage! From your photos of the past....you haven't changed a bit....

Susannah said...

Oh...this is great. A match made in Heaven! We all change as we get older but our love for each other is the same. I love this post, Sandra. Thank you for letting us "into your lives"! Please continue......

How interesting, my husband and I have been together for 27 years also and will celebrate our silver wedding anniversary on February 21. Congratulations on your lasting marriage. And as an asides, the dog in the old photo looks so much like our Soldier.

Still sounds like you have a pretty good thing goin' ;) Being able to laugh at the same things I imagine helps a lot.

Rose said...

Oh, this is too funny....being able to laugh helps everything. I have been know to tell my husband it is either laugh or cry, so I chose to laugh.

This is soooo funny about the fan! I've got tears from laughter! Your home is so pretty! I just love the lace and the sunshine coming in. I believe your home should reflect you and not what's in style. It's all about what makes you happy. I have inspirational messages taped to one wall as your walking into my kitchen and it makes me happy teo read them daily. I need sunshine in my home too.
The honeymoon pics are terrific! My son wore a speedo, but only for his swim meets. I just love the pic of you sitting by the pool with your puppy dog at your new home. Very lovely post Sandra!

my hubby and I are opposites..but we have a lot of things in common too...I'm more reserved and quiet...he likes to be the center of attention....he's bossy...thinks he's the only one that knows anything...so most of the time I let him think that....lol...but of course we all know who really knows everything...

That sounds perfect to me ^_^ Life would be quite boring if there were no sense of humor. Paul and I do pranks on each other sometimes, hilariously funny and childish I know, but so what?! lol I'm heading 45 and refuse to loose the child inside me [tehee]. Nice photos, love to see your home, it's very nice and so lovely to have the sun shining through the windows.
Have a lovely day my friend!

You both are delightful people and a real inspiration! Love the fan story and your pictures are great. Here's to more laughs!

Max is the one I saw in your picture above where you sit by the pool and he stands next to you. His ears were larger, but other than that, he really looked like Soldier. And, like Soldier, he appears to have been a daddy's boy. And what a long life he lived. That's what's so good when you get them young. Soldier was rescued at the age of seven. He's going on 12 now.

It made me smile your story about the broken fan blade. Your home is beautiful, full of light and sunshine and nicely decorated. Your photos are great!

So much sunshine in this in various ways!

Funny story about the fan. I never make the bed either but then neither does Greg. I guess we are alike in that way. Hope you had a great anniversary!!

Ann said...

What a nice home you have, lace and all :) I like the lace. My husband and I are sometimes too much alike and other times we're too different. Does that make sense? Sometimes I wonder how we manage to get along because we have very little in common. I think it's just because I'm so darn understanding....lol

You are such a great story teller.

I think that being a like is more important than you know. lol

And you two were hot tamales!

Great photos.

Happy anniversary again.

That's funny about the bed! My husband helps me put the sheets on because our bed is a big king size too and it is hard to do all by yourself. He does his side and I do my side. It works and we've been doing it that way for 20 years.

To bad you can't hear me whistling! lol You two were SEXY BABY!

Debra Dickinson said...

OK, 1st - happy (belated) anniversary! Good for you two! 2nd - I just have to ask - the picture of you in the "swing" is wonderful, but why is the "swing" or bench on the ground? I LOVE older photos. Thanks for sharing. :)

I still think it's a match made in heaven. What's a fan blade when compared to 27 wonderful years?

Betsy Banks Adams said...

Neat post, Sandra... George and I are alot alike also.. It's great to want to be with one person constantly and truly enjoy it... My best friend can't get over the fact that George and I love being together 24/7... She and her hubby never do anything much together. I feel lucky that I found a man that I enjoyed being around so much.

You two are such an inspiration. I still cannot get over the fact that you get up before 5 a.m. to go to the gym... Don't think we'd EVER do that.. Guess we are too lazy. WELL--we stay up too late at nights also... ha

Congrats..
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. Love your 'open' sunny house.. Ours is that way too...

Sandra and Bob, it's obvious you two belong together if just to save 2 other people..that's what Grenville always tells me about us! Really funny story and my oh my those photos were such fun - thanks for sharing.

Maggie Ann said...

I loved your post Sandra...how much fun you are! I lol at your fan blad getting dragged into the bed sheets. We have a queen size bed and I thought getting it made up was big business!

I'm afraid I am a control freak to ...but don't think I have ever admmitted it. lol.

Heidrun Khokhar, KleinsteMotte said...

That sounds like the best way to keep going, laughing after a small storm! That you get up and stay so active and have a healthy routine is tops and something we are lacking. Hope we get it together before it's too late. The affection is there but usual regular laziness is not a wise choice on our part.

This one still cracks me up--the fan blade being snapped off one.
