FMTSO - Hidden Niches

This is a home in our town that is hidden behind a wall, it is full of hidden niches, and I assume an artist lives there.

Sorry guys, these came from my archives. No time to go there, but I will soon.  Join us if you like.
Friday My Town Shoot Out for more hidden niches.

More MadSnapper Trivia on subject of Outhouse.
When I was 14, my daily early AM chore was to take the slop jar, some called it chamber pot, down the hill, through the snow and empty it. My grandmother sent me a blue silk robe for Christmas, I had it on and as I waded through the snow, with the slop jar hanging by the handle in my hand, my feet went out from under me.... you write the rest of this story.... and remember I had on a new silk robe.

I would hate to have to keep all the art clean. It is a bit on the kitch side don't you think?
Ugh! What an awful job you had and then an accident...the mind boggles.

It reminds my of what the Victorians used to do, covering everything in sight with seashells etc.

Wow! That's quite a place. A little too busy for me, but to each his/her own!

Your poor accident got me to remembering I had a similar one. Only it was inside! Boy, was my mother furious because she was the one who had to clean it up. I was only 8 or 9 at the time.

That does look like an artists home. That story of yours cannot have a happy ending.

Yes indeed there is a creative person hiding behind those walls...love all the sea colors.

OH MY WORD I have not heard the term slop jar in a lot of years....LOL
That is what my grandma used to talk about too. I had never seen/used one until I went to visit relatives in the country. If you got up in the night you had to use it because their only bath room was a distance away from the bedrooms because it was added on later.
Too funny!!
Happy Easter,

I LOVE IT!!!
I should come to your house so you can take me on the walk by this home. All the colors, the whimsy stuff is most interesting to you I know, and me too. I loved looking at this post. No doubt an artist lives here, or a very excentric person that espress's themself well. Thanks Sandra.

The story is chilling in both terms of the word! When I first saw this I thought it was from The Artist's Village. How far from you is it and how long has it been like this??? Has it been like this ever since you remember? This could make 10 posts!!! I would wait till someone came out or go to the door and ask the whole story!!! We do this all the time and people are really flattered that you like their yard. This is just wildly abundant and a treat for the eyes. My faves are the little birds, mosaic angel, and under-sea gate!!

Monica's blog post has THE EXACT SAME TITLE today!!!!! It blew my mind, did you two get together on it? I haven't even read it yet, I must go back now...just had to tell you.

O.K. I see it's s theme, duh!!! Nothing psychic here today.

I want to go behind that gate SO BAD and look around! This was a good find for this week's theme :)

I can remember visiting my gparents in the country and the slop jar was what we called it too. My gdad always took care of it thank goodness. That is an amazing house. Great to look at but I agree I bet it can get dirty. Easter blessings to you.

Oh My Gosh---I can't get past the slop jar on that new robe. YIPES....

I didn't have any experience with an outhouse until I was about 8 and went to a rustic church camp. We had outdoor potties ---and one of the boys told me that there was a snake in there --which would pop up and bite me in the hiney... I believed that --and was scared to death to go to the potty that week.... ha ha

Not sure I like that 'artist' home... Maybe a little bit of artistry would be fine --but that is too much for me. You????

Hugs,
Betsy

I think this is the most eccentric garden I've ever seen. (Can a garden be eccentric?) Perfect for this topic though.

Ann said...

Wow, just think of all the neat things you could find to take pictures of at that place.
I have been doing a little reading this week and have been enjoying your trivia. The outhouse reminded me of my cousins. They had an outhouse when I was little and when we went to their house I would hold it as long as I could if I had to go....lol

wow, that would be a great place for photographers!

Such a colorful niche-filled place this artist has.

I promise you I'm laughing with you about the chamber pot debacle. Honest.

Chatty Crone said...

I am sorry about you falling with your pot on your new robe.

I kind of really like that house with all that art work - how far do they live from you and do people like it?

Have a blessed Easter. Sandie

I really really want to meet the person who lives in that house!!

Kathy said...

If all that is visible on the outside, the inside must be pretty amazing too.

No, I don't want to finish nor visualize the ending of your slop jar story!

The niches and your childhood silk robe mishap were both extreme exercises in imagination this Easter evening!
