MadSnapper Random Ramblings

I

My last visit with Rich, he had on this shirt above. I WANT ONE. It's all trueeeeee

Above photo taken from Bradenton Herald this past week. They had to leave the car there overnight to make sure the statue was not damaged so that it would topple over.

Above and below photos are MadSnapper Snappiness!

this statue is 26 feet tall and is 10 miles from my home, in Sarasota, Florida. In March of 09, I did a post on the statue and only 1 of my current followers saw it, That would be Ginny of Let your Light Shine.

Click Here for the story. Don't miss the close up of her shoe, which is about 2 feet long.

UPDATE ON BABY GIRL

Thursday am visit to the vet was traumatic. I almost cried, still want to.
they took out half the stitches but had to leave 8 or 9 of them in, the part up close to ear canal had fluid trapped in it and was a small hemtoma and he had to squeeze and squeeze and open up a new drain hole, she cried and I wanted to.

for what felt like an hour but was maybe 2 minutes, he pressed on it until yucky fluids ran out all over her.
we have to do the same thing he did 2 times a day until Monday and take her back. I will hold her head, bob will squeeze since he is stronger than I am. bottom of the ear grew back to the cartilage the top did not and made another pocket.
She is FINE and sleeping and gave the vet a big wet KISS when he was done.

That is tramatic to hear, now watch and squeeze the dickens out of Baby. Pets are like our children. So sorry you are having to do this at home. Baby will forgive you, she knows.

Those statues are very interesting. I love big pieces of art like these. Thanks for the photos and information.

Baby is such a sweet girl! Her big kiss for the vet at the end of that ordeal about did me in. I will be thinking of you all and your weekend doctoring.

That statue is something, a big statue for a big period in history?

Draining a wound is not an easy task and yet, they are so forgiving once the pain has passed. Hang in Sandra!..:)JP

You would think people would be able to see a statue of that size and drive into it. Hope things get better at you house soon and you won't need to be doctor all the time.

That is one huge statue, but not large enough for everyone to see it I guess. LOL That's a scary shoe!

I'm glad the statue was damaged by the car. I'm sorry Baby had a traumatic visit to the vet, but hopefully this will help her heal completely. I want a shirt like Rich's as well.

Love the humongous sailor and his bride statue, Sandra.
Ouch, double ouch.. I would have cried out loud. Who hurt more you or poor Baby?

Madi sends Baby a gentle kitty kissy for her ouchie ear. We hope and purr it is all better by Monday. Good luck to you and Bob as you do the deed over the weekend.

Off to read about the statue but how in the world did that car run into it? White shoes: My mother in law was barely 5' tall but she had a size 8 foot. She always said she hated to wear white shoes because they made her foot look gigantic but hers wasn't quite as big as the nurse's foot.
LOL

I was wondering if it was the famous kissing couple from WWII. Boy the seam in her hose looks like a rope..talk about uncomfortable. LOL

I hope this beautiful statue wasn't damaged

Poor Baby Girl and poor you too. It is so hard when you have to doctor on your dogs. It just breaks my heart when they don't understand why they have to go through all this. I'm sending hugs and good thoughts to all of you. The statue is amazing and what a place to have a collision!

I am with you. I have often cried at the vet. I think it speaks to what a nice dog you have that she was still willing to give the vet a kiss. Hoping she gets better and better every day.

Hematoma's in the ear are extremely common, usually started by a grass seed lodged down in the ear canal, the dog shakes it's head, and small hematoma's are created in the ear.
The vet where I worked used to stitch small x's all over the ear, it kept the hemotoma from getting filled back up with fluid.
I sure hope Baby doesn't shake her head, it will start all over again.
She's such a sweet girl !

I cant believe my eyes...there's a car...crashed...Oh my!!!!
Go figured. I say...that was BAD!!!

That statue is nearly as tall as our Pinocchio here (by Jim Dine) - much debated also, especially before it was put up. Now we're used to it! I like your kissing couple, it's a fun piece of art - unless of course it's so distracting that drivers tend to forget what they're doing and crash into it...

Kathy said...

I hope your baby girl is feeling better - and you are too.

I saw the crash between the car and the kissing couple on the Sarasota Daily Photo blog too. Your pictures are awesome.

And as far as that T-shirt goes, could you get me one too?

Debra Dickinson said...

Ohhh, I can't imagine how painful that must be - for baby girl and you. What a sweetheart giving the vet a kiss!! Big, big hugZ to all of you.

GREAT statue. Hope I get to see it in person one day. Thanks for sharing!
