See How They Grow - Part 2

We have 4 other banana trees beside the one Bob cut down. On July 2nd Bob came in to get me and said look UP and way up high was the POD you see on the right in the collage above.
I shrieked "We Got More Bananas" we watched and on July 6, just 4 days later, I was Shrieking and Snapping! OH MY   (note: the tree only bears fruit once, the stump you saw yesterday is dead and gone) but other little trees will come up around it.
The above photo shows how high the new hand of bananas is, about 10 or 12 feet in the air. Below are the

A-Mazing! A-Mazing! little new bananas on July 6th. The sun was perfect, shining a beam right on the pod.

I have been documenting the growth of bananas since 2009, there is a label on the side bar called Banana Tree.

That one is way up there. Those little banana blooms are so pretty. I'm glad to hear the storm didn't take out all your banana trees. Love your close ups of the pod.

Hi there Sandra, I love the picture of your foliage...so very pretty. But the photos of the new bananas are just fabulous! The pod is very interesting. I find the whole development and growth of the bananas fascinating. Living in New York, we never see anything like that.

So these guys really grow fast, eh? I keep waiting for the post where you eat them!

Wonderful. It just struck me that I've probably eaten a banana a day most of my life which would mean (I just calculated) around 20000 of them...

These pics are so amazing! It seems like they grow very fast?! How nice to have bananas growing in your garden. Have a great Sunday!

A great record of your banana trees! I like the last photo and the first on this post as it shows the banana tree in context. It is fascinating. Thanks for pointing out the side bar topics, too.
You're so organised on your blog with all your links. (I'm quite a newbie at photography and blogging and still learning).

It is amazing to see this and I can imagine the joy it would be to capture it all with the cam area.

Girly, these pictures are outstadning. What a subject to photograph, those colors and textures... breathtaking.

You asked if my first pic, today, is a court house. It's a Bank, right in the middle of town. Across the street from the Bank, to the right, is the Post Office.

Across Broadway, from the Post Office, is City Hall.

And to complete the 4 corner buildings, across Broadway from the Bank, is our family building, with our family corner drug store in it, and another store... And apartments and offices, above. :-)

Beautiful photos, educational text. This is very interesting. The bush I mentioned at my old apartment building must have been several trees that sprung up because I remember there were lots of bananas on it.

Fascinating. I didn't know they bloom only once.
I like how the bloom is at the end of the banana. Great photos.

I have witnessed this in person too. We used to have several banana trees in our backyard when I was younger. You've captured them in photo pretty well :D

Happy Sunday Ms Sanra!

I don't love Google, but I have used Google Chrome for a long time. It's the best I can do here. But I use AOL for my emails because I have used them forever and I get a good deal on security with them. But when I couldn't download the video Bobbi sent Samson (to my AOL email), I got a message that said my IE needed to be updated. So it doesn't hurt to do it. I also need to get the Flash player. I have Windows XP and a satellite. My computer is old and slow as well, so I can only blog in Google Chrome now that I use the new interface. Just wanted to let you know. I want to try picmonkey and learn Picasa. Do you think I should download Photoshop? A friend gave me a disk. I don't want to get overloaded with stuff.

This is just totally amazing to me since I've only seen bananas in the grocery store. I still can't get over the fact that they will only get fruit on them once. So do you cut down the ones that have already had bananas growing on them or just let them accumulate?

love those photos!

hope you have a great remainder of your weekend, my dearest!

Oh, Sandra...I am living this. Makes me want to witness their growth cycle in person.

That would be so fun to have my own banana tree! We just have an apple tree and the birds peck them so fast and ruin them we never get to eat one. :(

Your photos are so pretty of their blooms. Those trees grow so fast! It seems I'm always cutting them down, but back them come! Have you ever eaten the bananas?

Hi Sandra,
Been gone so long I did not recognize your post photo! Nice. And the photos from # 3 on down to the bottom are all shocking to me. In a good way, not ever seen a banana tree, thanks for the education you always give out on your blog. What beautiful colors.
