Vertigo - Lessons Learned part one

If you are attacked by Vertigo.....

First.... DO have a DVR in the bedroom, preferably with flat screen viewing. We have a 48 inch HD LCD WITH DVR and 700 channels living room only and a 25 inch Square screen with 70 channels, no DVR in the bedroom..

Second....if you are on total bed rest and have NO DVR in the bedroom, you will be forced to watch Commercials, you will have no fast forward or rewind, OR pause for potty breaks. you must time your stagger trips to potty at the time of commercials.

Third ... to answer your question, no I could not lie on the sofa in front of the living room TV because for some unknown reason laying flat in bed lessens the whirling/spinning head thing, but doing the same thing on the sofa does not. Remember Doc did say BED rest.

PS... no I did not take these pics with vertigo, they were in my drafts.

PSS...Yes, I did consider getting Bob to move the bed in the living room, but then what would the Commander of the Remote to said LCD TV watch?   Men can't watch small TV with commercials. I read that somewhere.

Yes but the sick people are suppose to have their way for this helps them to feel better so Bob should have handed over the remote and been forced to watch the small TV.

HOPE you are feeling better and getting your sea legs back.

Dad says anything(one) entering this house and is still for a nano second is likely to become a photo op.

I would like to say that I learned to acquire "patience" during my siege, but I don't think I did! Hope you are feeling better every day!

Vertigo is horrid!! I am so sorry you're dealing with that. My husband had vertigo really bad and the doctor said his was due to little particles in the inner ear (I think). What's the prognosis?

Also wanted to say the header is blow-me-away beautiful!!!

That sounds a bit gruesome, having to lie in bed. But hope that you're feeling better. Big hugs x

Well now I love that header and also I am very much behind in understanding the vertigo thing. I had no idea it was your issue! Sorry to be so lame but hope you recover with plenty of bed rest. I've stayed in my bed far too long!! No vertigo just plain fed up with my dumb eyes and lazy attitude!

I hope I never have vertigo, because the TV in our room is small with no DVR. I can attest that what you read about men and small TVs is correct.

Please, what is the latest with this damn Vertigo?????? Latest about YOU and it, I mean.

Wishing good things, of course.

All good things to know, but how about trying to avoid vertigo in the first place, if possible I know because from what I have read it's NO fun at all ! It's nice that you are able to smile despite the difficulties you've been having, Sandra. Maybe Bob should move that bed OR the TV! Thanks for the earlier post with Jimmy Stewart, a wonderful actor. I was thinking Vertigo at first because of the tie-in with your diagnosis now, but rear Window was a good one too and a great tie-in using your camera as Stewart did.

Lessons noted. My mother had several bouts of vertigo every year. My MIL used to but hasn't had one in past several years. I am hoping I have escaped that condition since I am already way older than either of them were in their vertigo days. You have to be feeling better. Your humor is evident and definitely making me feel better already!

You would think there would be an exception when you're not feeling well. The part about the whole remote control rule that I hate is that if I'm watching tv and he walks in he gets to change the channel is he doesn't like what I'm watching. Drives me nuts :)

I am so sorry you have vertigo. I have small bouts of it now and then...no fun and I feel for you. I admire you for being able to keep your blog up in spite of the vertigo. Hope it goes away soon. Hugs

I think you're on TV overload. We have satellite TV and get five channels. Why you ask? Because that's the way my mother wanted it. And she only watches one of those five. And we only have the TV on for Jeopardy, noon news, evening news, and Wheel of Fortune, all of which are shown on the same channel. So when the remote died, she could care less because she never changes the channel anyway! When I was on my road trip I slept with the TV on all night because I was so fascinated with shows like Storage Wars, American Pickers, CNN cooking shows on HGTV, etc.! Oh, for real TV again just once in my life!

BTW, love that header picture!

What causes Vertigo anyhow? I have heard of it --but don't know anything about it like what causes it, etc....

Don't think I have ever known anyone with it---so tell me more please.
Hugs,
Betsy

That sounds a tough life. No decent TV when you are stuck in bed. Is it in both ears or only one. Are you dizzy when you turn your head to both sides or only one side?

Your plumbago is stunning, lovely photos. Take Care.

As always I recommend audio books, then one doesn't need to even keep the eyes open... And no commercials!

I do also have a 9" DVD-player/TV in the bedroom though (or anywhere I choose to take it), only a few TV channels but I don't have a lot more on the TV in the living room either. But I have quite a few favourites on DVD so that's good when I need bedrest.
