Cable Lady Blah blah blah

Our beloved remote that controls our HD LCD WIDESCREEN TV (horrors) quit, and the cable lady came and brought the new one.

Our appointment was 8 AM she came at 9:15 am but She set it up in five minutes, then said "I have one with big numbers, let me go get it".
I said "this one if fine, I already know how to use it, and don't want to learn a new one. (this was said to thin air because she had walked out the door while I was talking)

She pops back in the door with it, "See?" she says, "it has big numbers and it glows in the dark", I said "we don't need it, I like the one we have."

she says "it is the same just bigger numbers."

Now I am holding it in my hand and it is NOT the same, the buttons have moved, the FF is at the top, and red, yellow, green buttons are moved around on the game board remote.

She says," it's all still there"....... (by now I am thinking  she needs her hearing checked)

I say, " I don't like it!  I like this one because I can use it with my eyes closed."

She says "just keep both of them"....

so what is up with that? does she get paid by the remote drop off instead of hourly?  so now we have two more remote dust catchers.

THE GOOD NEWS IS.... SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH MY STATUE THAT SITS ON THE COUNTER.(she actually hugged it) and now I know who to call when I want to get rid of it. Anyone want to guess WHY I bought it 20 years ago?

Haha. Isn't it fun. I love it when they assume you don't know anything or you're hard of hearing or you're losing your sight. I've really noticed that many younger people consider us irrelevant these days. It's very annoying.

We haven't had a cable lady here, only cable men. She really wanted you to have the BIG numbers! Really bizarre!

Doesn't it look a bit like your Bob when he looks like Neptune? Anyway Neptune is what I think the sculpture looks like... what is it with sales ladies these days, thinking of the one who did not want to sell me a red bag... I have five different remotes on my coffee table btw!

I'm glad I don't have a TV - the only remote I've got at the moment is the little thingy to my iMac. She was really persistant wasn't she? She really wanted you to have the one with the big numbers.
Enjoy your Weekend!

We finally got a flat screen t.v. a month or so ago. We kept waiting for the old t.v. to bite the dust and it just wouldn't. We had a little problem with the cable and when the cable guy came out, he set the t.v. up for us. That was nice. I keep saying "we" but it's really "me". My husband doesn't watch t.v..well, very rarely. I have it all to myself. I think I know why you bought that statue!!

Best,
Bonnie

Don't you hate having to have all those darn remotes sitting around?

I am thinking that statue reminded you of your sweetie! Yup, that's what I think.

Happy Saturday Sandra!

funny story about the remotes :)

Could it be that it reminded you of that guy that lives with you?!?! ha! ha! I guess her mama did not teach her what "no" means! :-)

better to get rid of the statue than the living likeness. :)

Haha! I bet she was just a kid... I won't go on and say it lol..
Hugs Drew... hobbling around with a walking stick.

Evidently SHE needed the larger numbered remote and she pushed it on you!!! I'd mail it back to her!! ;o)

It definitely reminds me of your honey, Bob!

Funny..... Guess she thought that you NEEDED one with big numbers...At least, you got to keep the one you wanted...

When we go to motels, every single TV and remote is different from the last one. Talk about having problems.... ha ha

Not sure why you bought that statue.... Does the beard remind you of your Sweetie?

Hugs,
Betsy

I hate it when folks don't listen to me - like they know what's better for me!!!!! What was her deal???

Sounds familiar in a disconcerting sort of way. At least you were able to keep the one you liked, too.

I would think she would have caught on to "no" after you said it about three times...very pushy. Take the batteries out and save it for when the other new one goes out...

Not sure why she hugged your statue.I will guess like the others that it looks like your hubby? Still...she hugged it? strange. I like large numbers but prefer to ask for them myself.

The statue reminds me of Moses, I mean Bob. At least the cable lady wasn't your doctor, then you would have been in real trouble. Like I find myself in right now.

I thought of Bob too when I saw it...I don't know why sales people won't listen...it happens all the time...I even have had them argue with me when I tell them I am not interested in something...I'm thinking do they really think I will change my mind if they just keep telling me the same thing over and over again....love the photos too...Just because you can....

Your post today made me chuckle.

LOL! You can use the one with the BIG numbers that glows in the dark to help you to find the other remote when it's dark in the house! lol Or when the electric goes off you can use it to help you find your way to your chair! hahaha

That statue looks like Bob! lol Was he there? I hope not or she might would have tried to take him home with her! hehehe

Lol...no cable ladies here, just young boys who seemingly can never fix the broken cable !
I've just bought a universal remote, and like it better than the one that came with the television...
Maybe she was too busy admiring your statue to listen to you :)

I hate it when those "helpful" people think they know better than we do about what we want. Grrr.
Okay, I think the statue reminded you of Bob!

Well, I am wondering about that cable lady. She pushes a remote on you that you did not want and then hugs your statue...who hugs statues especially in a strangers home? Will they charge you monthly for that remote you didn't want? Hugs

That is funny. She might try to push you into a Zimmerman frame next.

And what"s the fee for the visit? Here if the cable guy/gal comes it"s money they want.

Ann said...

I think I would have been insulted by her pushing a big button remote on me, like she was saying you must be blind and need this....lol
I say you bought the statue because it looked like Bob :)

Chatty Crone said...

It looks just like Bob!!!!!!!!!!

And are you being charged for two?

I laughed... I think I'd like the one with the bigger buttons!

Suburban Girl said...

Bob was the model?

You get house calls from the cable co? Wow.

Beatrice P. Boyd said...

Sandra, I think the statue reminded you of Bob.
And we have remotes, but don't watch the TV they go to so it's not a problem and we also don'tb have cable service, so problem solved (for us). The rep certainly did sound like she wasn't listening closely.

Too funny!!
We don't have cable TV as I refuse to pay for it. Our "Free to Air" is enough as we have quite a number of channels (we don't watch much TV anyway)

I thought it looked like Bob....

Debra Dickinson said...

Wow! Did you freak when you first saw that statue? And what a strange cable "guy". Too funny about the remotes. And did she really hug Bob's mini-me? Bwahh!!!

SquirrelQueen said...

That's Bob!

Maybe they gave her a few boxes of the big number remotes and she wants to get rid of them. I hope you're not being charged for it. We got rid of cable and went to Dish, cheaper so far and tons of channels.
