How to make a post out of Anything/Everything/NOTHING

To whom it may concern:

I am not, no matter how it may seem to you, in anyway, at all, bored with my life......

I LOVE, really LOVE sitting salt and pepper shakers in shadows and merrily snapping away! Truly I DO!

Also, I was NOT bored when I found by using my friend Google Search,
that the ONLY Museum of Salt and Pepper Shakers is in Gatlinburg, TN....
AND FURTHERMORE
the most asked question at said museum is.......
Which shaker has the most amount of HOLES????

Kid you not... and here is the answer..

The shaker with the least amount of holes is for Salt...
...and the shaker with more holes is for Pepper.
An easy way to remember is that salt is bad for you so you need less!

Now there are always exceptions to everything. So in Europe, it’s the other way around. Pepper goes in the shaker with the least amount of holes and Salt goes in the shaker with the most amounts of holes. What’s interesting is that in Europe it was difficult to get your hands on Pepper since it’s a spice from the Orient (very exotic) but it was used to spice up meat that had been left out a little too long

Wow Sandra, I was just wondering why salt shakers have less holes than pepper shakers...In fact, I woke up during the night thinking about that!!!!!!!!!! NOT! ha ha ha.....

Actually, my life isn't boring either.. That's why I'm out on the front porch in my robe, taking photos this morning of the icicles and the glistening, icy trees... ha ha

Have fun and keep on enjoying life like I do...
Hugs,
Betsy

These photos are very "noir". I like them a lot. You've got something here. Shadows, graphics, geometry, angles, b&w/pepper&salt. Being bored means there is no drama in your life. And that's a good thing.

Facts I did not know except for the number of holes. I have to think about the coarseness of the product if I am filling new shakers.

You have such good light there. Let's see how wonderful the ugliest thing that can be photographed turns out in that light with your talent. I bet you can't find one thing that will not look good!

All very interesting...I didn't know Europe switched shakers like that. Good to know if you ever are lucky to go. I love the shadows and comp!

You have too much fun playing around with your camera and get some very great shots while doing it! I think my salt and pepper shakers have the same amount of holes in them. That is the ones that I have to fill myself. I do have the salt and pepper shakers like you have in your picture. I don't use much salt at all. I do use more pepper than salt.

I can't believe anyone thinks you are bored...you take some fantastic photos.

Never heard that there was a salt/pepper shaker museum anywhere.

Of course you're not bored. You're just easily amused... Actually I was just thinking of doing a post with that title. But nothing to do with salt and pepper.

Hi Sandra, I am blown away by those wonderful shadow shots! Thanks to for the information about salt and pepper shakers.

I did not know those things. I must confess though that I had never thought about it.

I always love learning new things and seeing beautiful pictures!

Happy weekend! :-)

First of all, being as creative as your are, you will never be bored and that should never even have to be mentioned. Second: Since I am from Europe, I was shocked to find out that all these years, I have put salt in the shaker with the most holes! I would have sworn that it must be the correct way. I will continue to do so since I like salt much more than pepper, but thanks for enlightening me. And only you would Google this, I think.

I don't know how I've gotten this far in life without knowing about the holes in shakers and why they are as they are. I can't wait for tomorrow's post!!

Best,
Bonnie

The stark angles and lines, the black and white, this is really modern art. I always thought salt had more holes!!! Always! This is a huge surprise to me!!

you have managed to make even the simplest of shakers look exquisite. I had no idea that there was a museum of salt and pepper shakers.

These photos are so cool! I just love the interesting fact you find and share. :) I have heard of people collecting salt and pepper shakers. Happy day to you!

One thing I would not say about you is that you are bored! I am not either.

The only thing is I always thought the most holes were in the salt.

I learn something new every day.

Cool photos! I am never bored, either. There is just not enough time in the day to do all that I want to do!

When you make a post out of anything. everything and nothing , your photos have the look of art. I totally don't have that gift. Oh well, I will just continue to enjoy your results!

Well I learned something new today, I did not know that Europe did their salt and pepper shakers that way. Since we use very little salt I had never paid attention to the number of holes in the shakers. I will now. I really like all your sunny B/W shots. Wish we would see some sun.

Amazing what you can discover by being bored. Like your shakers. No chance of mixing them up.

I love your creativity, that you always find something to work with and make great shots. Even the simple things as salt and pepper cans, brilliant! I like the shadows on these pictures. You should really put all your pictures together in a book, have you ever thought about it? I've seen some great shots from your posts :)
Sunday morning here and it's crazy windy and cold, dreading to go out later. Enjoy your Sunday!

Nothing wrong with photographing salt and pepper shakers, Sandra, and for sharing some info as well. There is beauty even in what some perceive of as mundane or ordinary and it is very obvious at least to me that you are never bored or at a loss for things to see and share. And, who would have thought there would be a museum devoted to shakers, but hardly a surprise.

You are so creative to think of taking photos of salt and pepper shakers! That is not boring:)

Hehhhh, I'm on the side of more-holes-on-salt.

Come now! Has the "CZAR(enna) of What You Must Not Eat" gotten even to ruling on the number of holes in the salt shaker?!?

Bahhhhhh-humbugggggggggg, say I!

Delightful, fun and absolutely not boring.
Terrific angles and lighting.
We use so little salt or pepper in our house. The shakers mainly just sit in the cupboard.
Fascinating to find out that there is a museum for shakers. I would love to see that place.
Have a wonderful day Sandra.

I've just recently washed and refilled all of my salt and pepper shakers. Now I know the reason for the holes. Great photos!
