Night Blooming Cactus

Sunday morning, July 14, 2013 we woke up to 48 blooms, hanging 3 stories high in the air, covering the top of the pine tree like a giant bridal bouquet. Every year July through September, I promise myself No More Pics of these magnificent blooms.

I can't help myself, even though I have to attempt to get them in the dark. They are 15 inches tall and 8 inches across...

They hang in groups of two to seven to 5 on a frond... they are only in the tip top of the tree and require me to lean on the fence and look straight up over my head, which is hard to hold the camera still.

They truly are an amazing flower and you do a super job of photographing them. HUM, maybe you could use your hubby as the tripod?
Get him to stand still, put your camera atop of his head... would that work?

You need to stop making that promise to yourself. Something this beautiful and amazing should be photographed every year.

They do look like a bridal bouquet and very special. Every time they bloom it must be thrilling and it's not surprising that you want to photograph the amazing sight.

I am so glad that you posted them again this year. They are stunning and so enjoyable to us who only see them when you post them. Beautiful photos.

Yo MUST post them every year! Because each snap from each year is different. Look at me, every year I post the years pansies, forsythias and such and I name them like "Roses 201". Six and seven are my favorites, but four and five are close!

It is so beautiful and amazing. How did it get up in the pine tree?

It would be a shame not to get more pictures of these beautiful flowers. Too bad they are so high. I wonder what they look like on the inside.

I would be disappointed if you didn't post them every year...I bet everyone that sees them loves them, no matter if they have seen them before.

WOW! Those flowers are AWESOME!! If you need an excuse - or reason - to keep snapping them, think of those of us who NEVER get to see them other than through your blog!

They look like little lights or sparklers on a tree. They would be nice in a wedding setting. Sandie

When you have such exotic "night life" in your babkyard, or at least above your backyard, capturing the botanical displays are again and again is tempting, even mandatory!

I enjoy the new pix!

Love them, Sandra... Keep on posting them. (Kinda like me and our flowers --which I show over and over. ha ha)... It's your blog --and we love it. SO--don't apologize. The cactus blooms are gorgeous.
Hugs,
Betsy
