Bad Day at the Not OK Corral

At Precisely 2:59 AM Saturday, the dratted little Squirrels dropped a 3 pound avocado on the roof. It sounded like a bomb went off.... The photo above is the ONLY ONE that has survived the scamper rats, it weighs 2 pounds, so imagine another pound bigger and dropped from 20 feet on the roof.

At 5 AM we swept, vacuumed, mopped the floors and I drove off to my 6:30 AM visit to Wal-Mart for the weekly supplies.

BAM! another Bomb. this time a Apricot Preserve Glass Bomb hits the kitchen floor and this time there is broken glass saturated with preserves ALL OVER THE CLEAN FLOOR...

How does glass fly 12 feet in all directions?. Why didn't the preserves glue the glass together in one blob?

Add two dogs to the mix that want to eat the sticky glass. I have to find shoes, for me not the dogs and put them in the back yard, run out front to warn bob who is cutting grass, that they are in the yard because he sometimes leaves the gates open.

THEN I had to wash the dustpan to get the sticky glass off it...also I JUST KNOW I will have missed a sliver and it will end up in my foot and Bob will yell at me when I whine while he picks it out.

Bob says: did you get the test chemicals for the pool? YES, and they cost 4.97 and last year they were 2.97 she rants as she hunts for it.

I pull it out and OH NO! OH NO!

SOME IDIOT took the yellow bottle OUT and placed two red bottles in the package in order to get 2 yellow bottles for themselves.... YELLOW is what we needed, it tests the chlorine...

Now I have to stand in line at customer service to  exchange it and the crowds that I missed by going at 6:30 AM are all there standing in line in front of me. BOO HOO... BOO HOO

I KNOW some of you are thinking who was the idiot who did not look at the box to see if there was a red and a yellow in it....  GO AHEAD, THINK IT, but please don't say it!

I wasn't thinking that at all. What I was thinking was that this sounds like something that would happen to me.
I'm thinking you are quite glad that day is over with :)

What a frustrating day! We are the same way when we break anything glass. I bought a "box" of Walmart Tylenol one time and the box was empty! I just knew they would think I was crazy..but I just never thought to shake the bottle to see if anything was in there.

the package did not appear to be tampered with.

I am still trying to get over the fact you were cleaning that early in the morning and then you went to Walmart at 6:30 AM..... I am just getting up at that hour....

Sounds like whatever was here and caused all that havoc for days is now visiting you.

I do find glass flies everywhere, please vacuum some more and even where you think the glass did not go for it could be there. Hope your week will be better.

Sandra, no laughing here just sympathy because I have also dropped glass on our ceramic floor and found pieces weeks later...luckily NOT by walking on them. And, hope you and Bob are also fortunate NOT to...hope the day got better.

Well, you have certainly had a LOT going on, Sandra! I hope your foot does NOT pick up a sliver of glass! And I doubt I would have noticed there were two red bottles in the package. I bet you'll look more closely next time though! ;))

Sandra
wear a helmet for protection from 3lb avocados, a catchers mit to field stray glass jars.

Just one of those day, but you document it so well, it is funny, frustrating, relatable, and TOTALLY Mad!! So someone had opened the box and put different bottles in it?? I bought a box of toothpaste a few years ago, only to find out it was all taped because it had been opened, and along with the toothpaste inside were what looked like a pile of fireplace ashes!!! I ALWAYS examine stuff I buy, don't know what I was thinking that day.

It's not funny so I'm not laughing!! I'm glad to hear of another early morning shopper!! The difference in us is nothing could entice me to go into a Walmart!!

Best,
Bonnie

Oh, no!!! Sandra, I think I would have just went back to bed and started all over the next day!! *LOL*

Oh how I hate the lines at Walmart. And I don't like people who play the switcheroo either.

That is the biggest avocado I have ever seen. What will you do/make with it? I would make a lot of guacamole.

What a sticky sloppy mess! That's it...put your foot down and demand the rest of the day will be great!!!!! I get frustrated at Walmart, too. I hate waiting!

I wish our pool was still open. We are have a nice heat spell here.....82 right now. I could go swimming for sure!

Good grief. So many bad things in one day. I hate returning things. And glass does fly everywhere. I sweep, swifter, and then vacuum to make sure I get it.

There really are days when one should not even bother getting out of bed! :D How was that avocado? :)

I can't tell you how many of my days goes exactly like that! Sorry. I hate when people do that too. Makes me mad and is not right! sandie

DawnTreader said...

Oh no, what a day you had. Agreeing with Mersad ;) ... That avocado is BIG, I've never seen any as big in the stores here. (Well I prefer to buy small ones anyway since I'm only one person...)

Sounds to me like things can only get better the rest of the week.

Never thought that at all....but the mess you had to clean up must have been hard

Ouch what a day!! Yes glass goes all over the place for some reason...and in tiny tiny pieces too...so painful to step on them. Tomorrow is another day ;) Wow that avocado is huge.

Michaele said...

Well crap! That's all I can think of to say. Except is that avocado on steroids?

Debby@Just Breathe said...

that sounds like things that happen around here....hope tomorrow is better...

Marie said...

oh no! Hope you got all the bad out of the way. :)
I can't stand people messing with packaged goods. I'm always checking to see if things have been opened...drives me nuts. lol

Things are never dull at your house, are they. I definitely would not want a three-pound anything dropped on our roof. I hope you got all the glass slivers from your kitchen floor.

SquirrelQueen said...

Sorry for laughing but I am imagining the squirrels sitting in the tree above your roof calculating where to drop the avocado bombs to get the maximum effect. Sounds like they were successful. That is one huge avocado!

Nope, did not think that. I have been known to pick up boxes and toss them in my cart without looking too.

Just one of those days!!!

Rose said...

Not going to say IT, but will say that I would have been the one to do the exact same thing. I always pick the one item that doesn't have a price, or pick the one thing that doesn't work.

As for the avocados, it is amazing to me that they don't put a hole in the roof!

Dee said...

Good grief.....I bet you got a headache by the end of the day :(

Oh, my what a day you had sweet Sandra. Hoping after all that you will have no more boo-boos for a very long time. Cleaning up those preserves could not have been fun. Hugs

That certainly was not a good day.

I am impressed by the size of your fruit!
