Carrot Fries and Cheese Toast

Healthy Carrot Fries
Since I just KNOW you are all jealous over the Toad Post, I decided to do a  boring one to make you feel better.

I put the carrots in a plastic container, drizzled olive oil and sprinkled garlic salt on them, shook it, broiled it in the toaster oven. I am told sweet potatoes taste good this way to.

the dogs love them to, they also like green beans cooked this way.

A friend gave us a very large loaf of Panera Bread..

I said "have you ever had cinnamon toast? "

Bob says "Cinnamon What? "

I say, "you know, bread, butter, cinnamon and sugar. Cinnamon toast..."
I could not believe he had never had that as a child.

GUESS WHAT? I made the toast for him and FORGOT THE CINNAMON.. we ate it anyway and the next day we had it WITH cinnamon.

NOTE: I am the same person who put the onion in the meat drawer, not the crisper drawer and found my tiny scissors in the eyeglasses case...

YES... I do know the cinnamon toast is not healthy, but we did eat carrot fries the day before.

Rye Thin sliced bread, 2 slices same calories as 1 slice of regular bread, grate the cheese instead of slice, spreads the calories of one slice to two pieces of bread.

Calories for 2 slices of cheese toast is 170 total... for some reason it feels like MORE when I have two slices to eat.

Cinnamon is a spice that calms the spirit if used right and in just the right amount.

I wouldn't call this a boring post at all. I find it quite delicious and I wish I would have seen it before I went to the grocery store. I would have bought some carrots. I do have some sweet potatoes though so I think I'll make some fries with them.

My guess is that cinnamon toast comes out better with than without cinnamon. (Just trying to make intelligent conversation, LOL) I roasted chick peas for snacks on Friday, they came out quite good. Maybe I should put those in a blog post, hmmm...

I'll try these tips. You can buy sugar-free cinnamon sugar, too.

I will have to try that with carrots. I do green beans and several other items in the oven that way. Your bread sounds yummy. Also I love rye bread, I would put that under the broiler to melt the cheese!

Not boring at all and I love that carrot recipe. Wish me luck, I'm baking a chicken for my hubby today. You know I don't cook as a rule, but I have somehow managed to get famous for my chicken cooking. Now I must go find that other post you mentioned.

Awesome! NOT boring!! I love seeing what people are eating.especially real simple stuff like this. Why? Because I am on a diet now. I LOVE cinnamon toast and always forget about it, I will go buy fresh cinnamon now. It IS healthy, cinnamon can totally take away type 2 diabetes. Now to my questions: How long do the carrots take in the toaster oven to look like this, and do they get cooked through? I do not like raw carrots. They rye bread...do you toast it first? I never thought shredded would be less calories, but it makes sense. and I guess if you use swiss, it would taste like a Reuben.

Well cinnamon is great for you and a little sugar once in awhile is okay for you too.

I love it myself.

And I have made sweet potato fries never carrots - interesting!

The carrots look yummy that way. Did you know we don't use the word "broil" here, but I learnt what it meant in LA. We say "grill" weird world. Calorie counting is a pain. Just eat half....easier said than done. Love your shades of grey pic.

I would love those carrots. Sounds very tasty. MOM knows what cinnamon toast is. When she makes breakfast for the folks at the homeless shelter she often ads cinnamon toast to the menu.

Food blog competition!! I haven't had cinnamon toast since the boys were at home. I think I'll make some tomorrow--with cinnamon, of course.

Best,
Bonnie

I'm not too sure about carrot fries, but I will try them because I'm trying to eat healthier. :)
By the way, you're never boring even when you try. :)

The cinnamon toast brings back childhood memories at my grandmother's house. It made the kitchen smell wonderful.

I have made sweet potato fries like this but never thought about using carrots. I'll have to put them on my grocery list and give it a try.
