The Mad Mad Speech Therapist

Think Southern Belle reading to Yankee from PA

Each day for the past 6 days, I have read out loud the words from the homework assigned to my husband to retrain his brain with his new hearing aids. Now you will know why we laugh when I say the word and he tries to mimic me.  Can you hear me now?
Can YOU repeat after me?

P.S. the hubby who can now hear has cleaned out the motor to the fridge Just Because He Can Now Hear the LOUD humming... glad to say the HUMMING is gone.
Also, my computer HUM is now gone because he can hear it. For some reason these things did not exist when I could hear them and He could NOT. This working frenzy also is caused by wind to 20 knots that grounds his RC planes.

P.S. AGAIN... I had no idea that cigarette lighters now come in USB Recharable... Found in Cashier waiting line at Wal-Mart..

Hearing aids can be a real nuisance with even small insignificant sounds being magnified unrealistically out of proportion. Real tough on the ear drums.
Good you see humor in the situation and are able to laugh about it :)

My husband needs hearing aides too - but he won't get them. He puts his hand around his ear like a cup - and catches the words! lol

LOL - I learned English with a British accent... Of course I hear a lot of American accents on TV, and sometimes Australian as well... But doubt I could do any of them consistently!

I'm sure there will be many changes as he rediscovers the beautiful world of sound.

You DO have THE prettiest voice!!! I used to be a page operator because people loved my voice, but you have me beat! I always LOVE anything you post about WAL-Mart!!

I know how it is....all the sudden you were right about those irritating noises!

you know there's a drawback to his being able to hear now. Now he will be able to hear all those comments you make under your breath when he does something that annoys you....lol

I think I could use some of Bob's energy! You should post the whole list of words that you have to read out loud!

No drippy faucets or squeaky doors he can fix? Oh the things that will get fixed! All kidding aside, I am so happy he finally was fitted with hearing aids and they are working for him.

Now that Bob can hear your house is going to be a lot quieter. Of course the fact that he can't fly his RC plane might have a little to do with it too.

You have a lovely accent. Every time I talk to family in GA my accent comes back for a few days, everyone starts asking what part of the south I'm from.

I'll bet you didn't realize so many things would be fixed once Bob got his hearing back. Perhaps that lighter is for the person who has everything.

I need hearing aids desperately and it gets worse by the day! I struggle to hear the TV. I struggle to hear on the phone, jamming into my ear as far as I can. I have trouble hearing from which direction sound is coming from..but I do NOT have trouble hearing those airplanes when they come over our home close enough for me to see the pilots face!! The only positive thing about that is that I CAN hear them.
I just wonder what I will fix when I finally get around to getting those hearing aids. I guess a "walker" is next! Grrrr..
:) Merry Christmas!!
Love,
Mona
