Time for Tidbits/Trivia

We got almost 5 inches of rain in the past few days, pool was full to the top, so Poolman Bob, previously called Bobby Appleseed. also recently dubbed Squirrel Whisperer by Squirrel Queen, is flushing off the pool deck.
GUESS WHAT I WAS DOING?

Today at lunch we had just come home from a shopping spree and Bob got a new necklace. He has now LOST 4 necklaces.
He said "do I look like a used car salesman?"
and we started giggling and could not stop...
We were remembering an overheard conversation in Wal-Mart.

Years ago, we were standing at the counter to get a new watch battery.

A young mother with a boy about 4 years old, stood holding his hand causing his eyes to be  level with all the shiny men's rings in the counter.
he says "Mom, can I have that ring?"
"NO! I am not having my kid walking around looking like a used car salesman"

Isn't it odd how something so silly and simple sticks with us? the child is probably in college by now and still we giggle.

It's Spring THEY are HERE

Good Fences Thursday

There are three kinds of men....The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observing and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves. Will Rogers.

The Fence that makes good neighbors, needs a GATE to make good friends....unknown

UPDATE: I should have told you this fence surrounds a home that is a butterfly garden. She sells butterflies online. It is called Flutterby Gardens

Random Pics - Rambling Words

Got New Shoes....Oh Yes! now I will have to walk.
the good news is, I saw these on QVC and since I have to try on shoes before I buy, I searched Google for a local store, walked in the door and a big sign hanging in the ceiling said for today only

30 % off every item in the store......

Seen in Walmart Parking Lot, it has 2 tennis balls in it
Before you ask, I have NO CLUE why I took this pic.....MADsnapper

What is up with
RANT:
We now have what Bob calls the Midnight Mailman.. our mail is delivered between 5:30 and 6 PM...

At least 3 times a week, we get someone else's mail in our box, 2 times in the past 2 days.
Bob's magazines are crammed and torn when stuffed in our box....

When we paid 4 cents for a stamp, it was always on time... Go figure!

In 2013 USPS lost 9 Billion dollars.... it's revenue was 66 billion... SAY WHAT?

Stop and Eat The Moss Roses...

In 1957 my husband married his first wife. She did not know how to cook. This was 1957 and I have no idea why she could not cook.

the first time she made spaghetti she just put the raw burger in the pot, dumped all the ingredients in and stirred and boiled.
Gross...
The second time she cooked, Bob thought of something easy so he told her how to make  pigs in a blanket. He told her to slice the  hotdogs, put cheese in and  wrap bacon around and secure with toothpicks.

When he got home she was in tears because she could not get the bacon to wrap. She fried it first.

My first daughter in law had never cooked a turkey. She decided to cook it in the microwave. It would not fit in a pan, so she just stuffed the turkey tightly in and closed the door.....and turned it on.... do you have a visual on what happens when a turkey cooks NOT in a pan.....

When did you learn to cook? I was about 10
any cooking stories?

Backyard Greens

Mid conversation of telling a tall tale from the distant past...

Bob said:  "I sat down in the.....what do you call that chair you sit in and push it back?"
MadSnapper: "recliner"
Bob: Yeah, right. Recliner.. and finished the story.

If I could remember the story about the recliner I would tell it to you....

but Joy Cometh in the Morning

Ps. 30:5 - For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The first blog I visited this morning was Just Breathe and I found this video on
there and felt so happy after watching it I had to re-post it here. Thanks Debby for 3 minutes of  Joy.  to see our Bad Dog Baby click HERE

Crosley Estate - Library

OOPS! MadSnapper made a MISTAKE. AGAIN! I clicked publish and had it on the wrong DATE... How could that happen? so it is a two post day..;. Sorry!

The library at Crosley was one of the largest rooms. The house is not furnished. There is a fireplace in every room because this was their winter home.

My friends Lola and Barbara... it's OK girls, I did not show your faces... LOL I posted the above photo to prove to all of you I do have "living friends" not just blog friends... Can you guess where I was? you will find the answer 2 photos down.

I did sneaky paparazzi attack on my friends and stepped back 2 steps and snapped ME.  Can you find me?

The floor tiles and wall tiles are the originals tiles.. it amazes me that they look so very much like what we have now.

My Favorite Room -Crosley Estate

The Ship Room,  floors, walls and ceiling are crafted  from  beautiful bent White Oak, masterly done by a ships carpenter. This room is where that master of the home spent most of his time and was his favorite room. It was also my favorite.

The ceiling below shows the color of the room and the Spanish Rose pointer is connected to the Spanish Galleon wind vane on the top of the house. it still works to show the direction of the wind.

the room is acoustically perfect and if you stand on the dowel in the center of the room and speak, the sound reverberates in your head.

Below you can see the round ship room with the vane on top at the far left.

Below is Powel Crosley, Jr and wife Gwendolyn. They married in 1910. Her father did not think highly of Powel's prospects. His father was an attorney, but Powel loved to tinker and was not an eminent student. He was 30 years old and had never made more than 20.00 per week.
In 1916 he started a mail order business, Automobile Accessories Company and with a few years was grossing over million per year.

He became a well known inventor and multimillionaire. Below is a list of his many inventions and in 1934 he bought the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

Crosley Estate - Bayside

Construction of this home was completed in  72, 9 hour days at a cost of 350,000, in 1929. It took 120 days to furnish and occupy. Longer than it did to build it.

The house was heated with steam radiators and all fixtures were porcelain.

The stairs above lead to a porch that is behind the wood frame you see below. the doors open into the hall or the bedroom that belonged to the lady of the house.

the view from the porches if the beautiful Sarasota Bay.

We were resting after the tour and you know who was sitting on the wall snapping photos of unsuspecting friends... the best was yet to come......LUNCH...
