Fear......

I started with nothing in PicMonkey and created this and I love it

I have these three quotes on post it notes on each of my computer screens.

My fear of the DARK has been with me since I was 3 months old.

If you are asking how I remember that, I was told that by my mother who said if they took me in a dark theater at age 3 months, I would scream until she took me out...

Could this be why I am and always have been afraid of the dark? in 1944 how many parents took a 3 month old baby in a dark theater?

I overcame the fear someone was under my bed, overcame fear of public speaking fear of birds and a few others I will not name.

but most of my fears remain.

Interstate driving/riding with other drivers/High speed in cars

Water over my head (sharks and waves)

Dark, as in total dark (caves)

Heights (empire state building)

Small spaces (elevators)

Not being in control

I have decided since I have been like this for 69 years and 6 months, I will never change and will continue to be on the edge of the what if  cliff the rest of my life.

I am no longer  afraid of being afraid....

Great quotes .
I alway try to figure out what is really behind the fear itself.

Super quotes, Sandra. Fear is something most of us share, but we do fear different things. Congrats to you for conquering a few of yours!

SANDRA THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING AND CREATIVE POST.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
I'M AFRAID OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING...MUCH BETTER THAN I USED TO BE BUT I HAD A HORRID EXPERIENCE AS A CHILD. MY friend was in a tree swing when lightning stroke the tree. I saw the strike from my door...he passed away. Seconds before I had been there with him but my mom called me home and for once I came when called.

This is a wonderful post. I think we all have things we fear, but I just try to remember who's in control of everything, and it sure isn't me!

a rather cathartic post. :)

I hope this post was cathartic. It made me wonder where fear comes from, a dark theater, or a sudden move, or what went on in our minds when we were children.

PS ~ I am so glad you are not afraid of technology! Your posters were incredible.

I love your picmonkey creativity. Great quotes also. Gregg and I were talking about phobias yesterday. I find myself being more afraid of heights than ever and also a little claustrophic these days.

Sandra, like you, I also do not like total darkness and so we have timers on home lights. When traveling and out all day, we leave a room light on not to return to a dark room. I also do not like high-speed driving, swimming, fast rides, and heights. Thanks for sharing some of your phobias and you are right about not changing the older we get. That's NOT always a bad thing either.

I suspect the fear of not being in control is behind a lot of other fears!

Your life is not yours to be in control for sure. Whoever thinks it is. Something else will crop up.

Having a prayer line to God can change allot of things. In his time.

If I look at what I was scared at it sure has changed for the good.

Through prayer and people praying for me.

Elevators was the one the most. I used to take the stairs.

Bears have no choice since I moved from country.

They are everywhere so I have to go out for walks. Again asked for prayer.

Well, we all have fears...whether we admit it or not. It helps me to remember that God is in control and that I can trust Him!

I only have the one fear that is overwhelming to me and that is water over my head. Don't like it and never will. So there! I like that you can do those kinds of things on picmonkey now. It's such a user friendly program that it's all I use.

Love your creativity in this post. I am getting a handle on imaginary fears but will always have a fear of heights. And that makes me mad because I would like to replace some shingles!

It is very commendable to admit all you fears - best way to get over them!

love the quotes and very creative what you did with them in Pic monkey.
I must have my fears under control because not much really bothers me. I have to admit though that the last year strong winds and heavy rain have made me a bit anxious though

You did a great job. I've always wanted to make my own sign! I like being in control and driving with my husband is getting harder and harder. I fear snakes, especially for my dog.

SquirrelQueen said...

At 3 months most babies would scream when taken into a dark theater. That might be the reason for your phobia.

The only time the dark bothers me is when the power goes out at night and I know there are four cats on the floor between me and the flashlight. MOL!

I love that first quote!

We all have fears and learn to deal with them in our own way. I love the idea of verses on post-it notes.I need reminders often of where I place my trust.

I ADORE that first quote. Wow! Powerful! And I love your last sentence.... Not afraid of fear. Too cool.

Wonderful quotes! Fear is the dislike of some things. IF we overcome the fear we are the hero in the world!

Powerful words, and they truly hold true. I don't like flying for example, but then flying gets me to places I love to see, so I face the fear and now I'm not as afraid of flying as I was before.

I am always battling fear...I learned the best way to overcome it is to face it... Fire was a big one for me most of my life...not anymore...making left hand turns...still avoid them....high speed in cars like you...unless I am driving LOL.

Age has the advantage of realizing we may never overcome our fears, but we can keep on and live life fully and joyously in spite of them. You have courage my friend. Snap on!
