MadSnapper Ponderings

We live our life by routine and It occurred to me, if I create an online diary, I can just copy and paste each of my days.....and DONE

I read books and blogs to be transported to places I will never visit, do things I could never do, see things I have never seen.

Between books and the computer I can live a whole new life

When reading a book and I find a place that sounds interesting, I use Google earth to find it. When the book  mentions the FBI building in LA  or 1 Police Plaza, I pull up Google to see what it looks like. Or where it is.

When a book goes into descriptions of places and buildings or even describes something I have never seen, I look them up

Recently a book had the main character living in a Roadtrek.... yes... I looked it up.....it is a very small RV......

If the character in the book is listening to Opera or Jazz and they mention the song and who is singing, I come pull it up on YouTube. I found I love soprano sax and had never listened to it.

Unknown quote that made me smile

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people.... I'm just saying.... let's remove all warning labels and let the problem work itself out

Do you look on line to find cities, places, persons, things, buildings or songs up that you read about?

Hope you had a wonderful Easter Sandra. We never thought of looking up places and things we read about. Maybe we will from now on. Nice idea. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Of course I look up stuff and ponder and day dream and snap like a maniac...I'm MAD SNAPPER IN TRAINING. Seriously Sandra we might be sisters from another mother.
The oddest/most interesting things grab my attention and OMCs now that I have an iPad I have research resources at my finger tips.

Love the quote and I must say if you tell me what that wild looking thing is with the red balls I'll look it up too

Sometimes I do. Doesn't it make you wonder how we ever survived without the internet? LOL!
Happy Monday Sandra.

Loved your post Sandy :). The quote made me laugh too and your photos , just love that bright green plant. I find blogging sends me on a wonderful journey of learning. I have always had a curiosity about the world and I always seem to be looking things up just like you. Thanks so much for leaving such a lovely comment about my blogging problem. I feel a little better about it all this morning. Another reason I love blogging, it introduces you to a lot of really sweet people. Have a great week :)

Yes, I do look things up. Now could you give me a clue as to what that thing is with the red fruit (?) so I'll know?

Got a good laugh at the quotation. :-) And yeah, I look up stuff too when I'm reading about it. I have to know where on the map a place is, exactly how to pronounce a name or place name, know the definition of any odd words that may be included, etc. etc. etc. Yeah, I'm just like that. :-)

Such a great post, Sandra. That's how we ALL learn---we learn from each other. We stay 'young' (sure!) by studying and learning more and more about what goes on in this crazy world of ours.

Yesterday, we got to see a man-made tunnel which connected one part of a river to another --and had a WATERFALL at the end... Amazing!!! (See my FB post today for more info if you want to look it up!!!)

NOW--if they would just find some easy cure-all for the common COLD (or allergy or what in the heck I have)??? Dang.... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I don't always take the time to look things up, but sometimes I will.

In answer to your question Sandra, yes, I do look things up. I read a lot of Peter Robinson books an his Detective is a music enthusiast, I often look up the music he mentions, some I like and some not.
What is the red berry bobbly plant, it weird.

I love your pictures, I love soprano sax, I love opera too. I don't have room to write about all the good things I have lived in the A to Z. And, no, I usually don't look things up. It seems I don't have the time, or maybe the curiosity, because, technically, I should have the time. The way you keep both your body and your mind should inspire everyone our age.

I meant to say "the way you keep both your body and your mind so active"

Yes, both blogging and book-reading often makes me look things up. And with books even more when I read on Kindle, as I can connect to Wikipedia directly from there... Sometimes when I'm reading a paper book now, I find myself in vain pressing my finger on a word in hope of an explanation immediately popping up on the page! :)

Love your unknown quote...I have said survival of the fittest happens for a purpose and we have skirted the whole thing. Seems heartless, I know. But true. Anyway, whatever would we DO without google. I look things up then order another book from the library because something I looked up intrigued me. It is a never ending cycle and I never run out of books to read.

Hi Sandra....I look up many places or things that I am reading about. Also things from the nightly, world news. I really do enjoy that about my computer!

I enjoyed this post/photos.
Not until about 6 years ago did I know about google maps and the ability to look up things. My brother taught me how and I love it!

That is exactly why I blog because I am able to go places and see things that I may never actually get to see in real life. I've never thought about looking things up like that on Google but it makes sense.

I just love how your mind operates.

I guess I am so stuck in the Dark Ages that I don't think about researching on the internet. I guess I had better get with it!!
To answer you question, all the photogs were standing on top of a box truck to take the pictures. They even had a video Drone camera to take panorama overhead shots. I couldn't go into detail about the Border issues but it really was most difficult and very stressful. The truck I was in went across with the ATV we had only because the cute young Border Patrol woman took a liking to our driver. She told us to get going NOW before the other Patrol guys that were on their way over to us got there. So we did! There were so many "God Things". It was only His intervention that made our trip successful.

I do the same thing with Google maps! :) Especially when I'm listening to an audiobook. When I'm reading I look it up later, but with an audiobook you can see it as you listen to it :D

Gotta love that quote!

I do look things up sometimes after reading about them. Like right now I really want to look up that strange looking plant with the red fruit.
Great photos as always.

Do I look up places? Sometimes, but not all that often.Guess I'm just lazy that way.

I look things up occasionally, but not as often as I probably should. I often say my life is like that movie Ground Hog's Day where every day is the same. The same routine. Especially in winter when I stay in more. And that's why I love blogging, too. I get to see things I haven't seen and learning new things.

It sounds as if you get around without leaving your house. It sounds like a great system, but I still like visiting in person whenever possible.

You share such remarkable and unusual things. I'm wondering what the red berries and the purple fungi (?) are, too.

Oh, yes, yes, yes! I look up places, songs...or I hear part of a song on a show on TV and usually search till I find the whole thing. Only one song that I can think of that I have failed at.

I love, love, love google earth.

The whole thing for me is to write it down, or look it up right at the very moment I want to know, or I am apt to forget it.
