Backyard Beauty

Red Hibiscus April 2, 2014.. with perfect hole in the bloom

I just found that 5 of my draft post were created in April....

April 5th,2014 Reflections of a bucket

I typed in Google The Color Orange and found a lot of info on this link
a very interesting read on how colors effect our lives

April 5th, 2014 there were 11 orange hibiscus

The color orange radiates warmth and happiness, combining the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow.

Orange relates to 'gut reaction' or our gut instincts, as opposed to the physical reaction of red or the mental reaction of yellow.

Orange offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief.

Bob and the scorpion

Bob came out of the backyard jungle holding this in his fingers like this and yelling ....

"look It's a scorpion!"

I yelled "What? a SCORPION? In our yard?"

From across the pool, it did look like a scorpion..

But Bob loves me so much, one  day he put on a cologne  that smells like a computer.-
Seems that is the only way to get my attention these days... that and a fake scorpion

* IT is  Something dead from our jungle, who knows what it is, but he scared me silly and it really does look like one,

Doesn't it. TexWisGirl, doesn't it?

Psycho? or not........

I found this laying on the counter and said

"Bob, Why is the Psycho knife on the counter?"

His answer...

"I used it!"

I KNEW the answer! My very own personal Psycho Hubby LEFT it there...for MadSnapper AKA Psycho-PicMonkey Addict.

yes, he left this on the counter to...

He left the peel, I added the flowers

He leaves lids off jars, cream cheese out of fridge, cabinet doors standing open and lids off dog bone containers.... I could list more but I might go psycho myself...

And now I am trying to think of how I can think of what I was thinking when I did this post....

The good thing is I know why I played with the photo in PicMonkey...

 BECAUSE I CAN!!!!!

Watch the SHOWER SCENE in "Psycho" from 1960 if you dare...shower curtains still terrify me..

I will be starting back slowly, if I miss your post, i will catch up...

Our very own Backyard Rust

If you rest, you rust..... Helen Hayes

It is not work that kills men; it is worry.
Worry is rust upon the blade.
Henry Ward Beecher

there is never a day I can't find beauty in our backyard. This past week the weather was perfect for pictures.

2 week update

Our YMCA closed the pool we swim in 5 days a week for 4 weeks
In a foolish light bulb moment,

MS came up with Home Style Exercises... KNOWING I am almost 70, KNOWING I have arthritis, which is why I do the pool only and not the gym...

MadSnapper took her daddy's cane, and played at weight lifting and did a big long stretch (see above) and felt something SNAP.....
Internet Photo

the way  my shoulder felt

Urgent Care says intrascapular  pain in plain English sprained/strained muscle that was swollen and pressing on nerves...

that would just not STOP..... neck, shoulder all the way to the wrist, down the back. PULSING SHOCKS OF PAIN..... could not lay, stand or sit to get relief.
Meds and drugs and heat pads and 2 weeks of very little sleep....... my pain is from a 10 to a 2 on the pain scale.

Now I have a sinus infection ... more drugs... more money... etc etc plumber bill
$300...AC bill $100....blah blah yada yada

I can type for short periods of time, as in five minutes at a time..

I have 12 left over posts in drafts which will help me start back slowly.... very slowly.. but I don't know when I will be back...

Up Date on ME

Happy Mothers Day.

I have a pinched nerve, it is in my right shoulder, going down my arm. I am in excruciating pain and can not type or do emails or blogs, i can't sit, stand or lay comfortably.. I am worse than I was Tuesday... maybe 2 hours a night of sleep due to pain... last night no sleep at all. I paced and huddled on the sofa.

I am not blogging or doing emails... and will not post again until something is done. This is also effecting my chronic hip and lower back problems. I am a mess. and I do miss all of you. I left comments on but will not be answering them but will read them.

Raccoon-amania part 2

After 2 hours of love making, the male above is resting, can you say exhaustion?

After a little research, I found , they can live for 20 years,

they deliver in 63 days and babies open their eyes at 3 weeks.

By my calculations they should arrive  on June 6 and eyes open June 21.

OH PLEASE little Bandits, do not make your home in our yard...I do hope the babies open their eyes and do NOT see my yard..

Raccoon have hands like humans, and can open any and everything and are very destructive. They love to swim...

OH NO... have they been having a pool party at night? am I swimming in raccoon water?

I was in snap happy mode, they got tired of it and wandered off up the tree...

Raccoon-amania...

Out of the camera, way to dark

At 5:30 AM Sunday morning, the dogs went tearing to the door. Alert! Alert!
I went to the open window and heard loud chittering noises.

I did not let the dogs out.

At 7 Am which is ball game time for Jake, we let them out and they went straight to the bottom of our big pine tree...

cropped to show their faces

two raccoon, sitting in a tree,
both their eyes staring at me.
Look Bob a raccoon and her baby
Oh no, not a baby, they are making babies.

 YES! MS shouted they are!
I hope they are not to far..
I hope they stay,
While I am away

MS sprinted for the table
and was very able
to change the lens before they were gone

OK so the last one doesn't rhyme. they were there
from 6 am to 8 am.

photos today taken 7 am - tomorrow will be at photos from 8 am.

Bougianvillea

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

Beautiful, ornamental THORNY bush.....the flowers are actually leaves on the tip of the limbs that turn this beautiful bright pink...

Our bougainvillea was out of control and this gorgeous bloom was blocking my sight when backing out of the driveway. He whacked it and brought it to me to play with..... AND I DID PLAY

Good News, Bad News continuted

Bad News: while Bob was repairing/breaking the lens for me,  I went to plug in the laptop charger and found the ground thingy off the end of the cord still sticking out of the WALL.

Good News: Bob says it doesn't matter....

Bad News I don't agree and there were more HOT words...

Good News: Bob says as long as I don't stand in water while plugging it in, it is safe....

Bad News: I shot Bob through the window

Good News is  he doesn't know it

Would you take the word of an Auto Mechanic cum wannabe electrician that uses a pickup truck for a ladder to trim the limbs off so the wife will stop whining every time she backs out of the driveway and it drags on her Kia? (take a moment to breathe now after the worlds longest sentence)

I always learn from the mistakes of others who take my advice.......

OOPS! Sorry, my train of thought just ran off the track....
THE END

Good News, Bad News..

Good news: Amazon.com has opened in Florida, 30 miles from our house.

Bad News: As part of the deal to get them moved here, they had to agree with the state of FL to charge FL residents 6.9 % tax on all purchases.

Good News: They sent me an email saying I could get 10.00 off any purchase between May 1 and 7th... and click here to add to your account which I did.

Bad News: the day I got the email, I dropped the new 50 mm lens I ordered from Amazon, and when I put it on the camera it was stuck and would not come off.

Good New: I googled and found a ton of people with the same problems, seems it is a CHEAP plastic lens and it happens a LOT...

Bad News: to get it off you have to destroy it.. OR mail the camera and lens off to Canon and wait 3 weeks.
destroyed lens

Good News: there were many tutorials on how to get it off.

Bad News: Bob had to do it, I could not...and there were lots of HOT words a going on. from BOB AND ME...

Good News: It's off, the Rebel still works with the other lens.

To be continued....

Good Fences - Country Club Fence

We live 8 city blocks from The Bradenton Country Club, click on the link if you want to see how beautiful it is, inside the ugly fence.

it is 120 acres surrounded by fence on 2 sides, a long fence.
Only the rich need apply.....in 1990 it was 18,000 to join plus monthly fees. No idea what it is now.. all I can do is drive by and take photos.

Chain link follows the road, but some places are trees, bushes and flowers in front of the ugly fence.
