House Hunting with a bodyguard

I added sunlight to this pic in PicMonkey. It looked like the others below
This is the historical Covington House read about its History HERE

This grand old lady was in our news paper a few weeks ago. They are begging someone to save it and restore it. It is more than 100 years old. I have begged Bob for weeks to be my Bodyguard and go with me to see it and today the begging worked.

The light was wrong, shooting into the sun, but I managed a few shots. The reason he had to go with me, is the neighborhood is really bad and the reason no one is restoring it...

When cheese gets it's picture taken, what does it say?

NOTE:  I took 152 photos while we were out and about, we stopped in Village of the Arts.... LOOK OUT BLOGLAND

That could really be someone's dream house. Too bad about the bad neighborhood. You could doctor up these pics for Halloween, too!!!

I would love the opportunity to do a renovation project on this lovely house.

Oh my goodness she is a beautiful Victorian and oh the tales she must know. Look at the architecture. It would be nice if the historical society would take on the project but the neighborhood is probably a big issue there.
Bob is one fine bodyguard....heading to the other link. We are just starting our routine blog round

YEAH, I am so glad you went, and now you will show us all kinds of goodies!!! Too sad about the beautiful old house. If only a rich person would fix it up really good, maybe it could be a new start for the the neighborhood. Or not...It would make a good pregnancy house or homeless mother house. We have a brand new homeless mother house here, our pastor started it. OY, the troubles it has had, the poor moms and kids.

I would have loved to see that home in its glory days. It looks lovely and hope someone buys it. What are they asking for it?

I sure hope someone rescues this beautiful old home in spite of the bad neighborhood. Who knows, maybe the restoration would entice the others to do better. I would love to have seen the inside of this old beauty in its heyday!

Oh how sad! I don't understand why here in the United States we have unsafe neighborhoods. I grew up caring about my neighbors, we needed each other. That is a lovely house. All it needs is for someone to love it. I sure hope they can save it.

The house is truly a Grand Old Lady and it would be great to have it restored. Sometimes a home like that is bought for $1 and then moved. I am glad you took your bodyguard with you.

I do hope someone will buy and restore the grand old house. It may bring Hope to the neighborhood.
the Dame has so much character.

You know that house has a story to tell. A shame it got so old and tired, living in the wrong neighborhood.

I hope someone saves that grand lady. Beautiful.

It would be fun fixing this place up! Too bad about the neighborhood.
It would be a great haunted house! Kyle is thinking of throwing a Halloween party here. :)

What a beautiful old house. And the history behind it needs to be preserved along with the home. Looks like a plan was in place but the economy collapsed before it could happen. Maybe this time someone can take over, find the funds needed and succeed. I would be interested to know if someone does come forward to take on the task.

I think it would take a great big pocketbook to get this old girl a facelift!

There is a lovely old home that is part of the historically African-American neighborhood in our town, too. It has been partially restored, but since my retirement I am no longer in the know about its status.

Here's hoping both these homes find someone or some organization with deep pockets, lots of love for historical homes and respect for the significance of these structures to our communities.

You can tell by looking at this that it was magnificent when it was in it's younger years. It's always a shame to see these grand old houses let go.

It is a beautiful old house, sorry the neighborhood is not safe. It would be lovely if restored.. Happy Sunday!

Sadly, many cities have similar grand old homes and even in our sparsely populated area we have seen similar examples. Fortunately, none are in bad areas in terms of unsafe neighborhoods. Most likely, the one you showed, Sandra, will deferiorate to the point where it will be unsalvageable.

Thank you Bob! She really needed to take those photos! I love the vines and the haunted old house look. Remove the bars from the windows and put it in a movie.

What a beautiful house, I bet that it looked fantastic when it was in use. Love the iron work in front of the windows.

I would love to see this one for myself....I thought for a minute you were going to say you were begging Bob to buy it.

So sad about the house and the locale. She was a grand house in her day. She's still quite photogenic.
