Tale of Two Gowns

It is to warm in Florida to sleep in a flannel gown, but during our 20 cold nights a year (this means 50 to 65 degree F), I like to watch TV in a flannel gown and warm socks.

I ordered a blue one and loved it

I received an email that said 40 percent off with free shipping,

I ordered the same gown, in burgundy.

It came.

I started laughing and Bob said WHAT?

I threw it on the spare bedroom bed and.... as you cans see, if I wear the gown and lay down, Bob will never find me.

The red sleeves are 3 inches longer, down over my finger tips.
Laid them together, sleeves are same length.

I laid the blue one on top of the red one and the sleeves are the same length, but check out the difference in the necks... Phooey.. but I did keep it, and will roll the sleeves up. And try not to choke with it up around my throat.

Have you noticed if you buy two pairs of shoes in the same size, or jeans in the same size or a blouse or what ever, same size, same brand, it is rare for them to be the same.... UNLESS of course you can afford 200.00 jeans. or shirts. or Whatever...

UPDATE: and the punch line I forgot to add, is since I bought 2 flannel gowns and 1 blanket, our temps have not been cool enough to wear the gowns or use the blanket... we are having summer temps in Dec. so warm that the oak trees think it is spring and are putting out their allergy pollen and little brown things.we are running 65 to 80 every day.

that flannel gown does blend in with the bed pretty good.
I have noticed that with things not always being the same. That's one of the reasons I don't like to order clothes without being able to try them on.

Oh what a cheery post. You certainly would blend into the background of the spare bed if you wore the burgundy gown and lay down there! Oh, I often by two or more of the same blouses, skirts pants in different colors and yes, they always differ. Wishing you a great weekend ahead. Jo

You would get lost on that spare bed wearing the burgundy gown..That is funny.. I agree about the size thing, I thought the clothes designers or tailors were trying to makes us think we lost weight..Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

I'm sitting here right now in a flannel gown, warm robe and thick socks. Oh, and there's a spotted dog curled up on my feet. Aaahhhh!

Best,
Bonnie

Well if you ever want to hide from Bob for a while, you know how to do so in comfort! :) And yes, it's happened to me too... Trying on one in the store, buying one more in a different colour without trying that on as it's supposed to be the same, and then have to go back because it wasn't!!!

How clever of you to order a camouflage gown! You never know when you might need to hide in a hurry. :))

Love EG's comment! This is really fun to see the similarity in the fabrics. I couldn't even see the gown until you pointed it out. Hope you're moving with more ease today.

Not so here!! It was freezing this morning. In the low 40s. But, I gotta tellya, that is a heckuva lot better than ice/snow/minus temps my sister is having in Colorado. I LOVE the South.

As for the gowns...flannel sounds comforting while watching tv. And yes, depending on where you buy items too...the size differs drastically.

Momma has been eyeing the Florida temperatures and whimpering. She's running a big marry-thon next week, and it's supposed to be nearly 80 and humid!

Well, now you HAVE them for when you need them. So funny, I looked at your first picture and could find only a bed. So then I thought you had gotten a new bedspread! You are right about nothing being the same, BAD quality control! No one seems to care anymore or take pride in their jobs.

Well my man is outside it is brrr outside. Back to normal he is. You cannot miss him. He is a yellow Canary. Young son mailed it to him. He wants his dad to stay safe and warm. He looks like a alien.

Your pics are nice. I buy two of same if I like them. Oh I never wear
P.j's. Would if those hot flash's disappeared. I think my hormones thinks I am 21. Dang it. Those night sweats and today inside. I am wearing a summer top. Then at 4 I am wearing a sweater. Help!

May you be feeling much better in health Sandra .

I have found that the workmanship in many things has been changing over the years. I just ordered more winter PJ's because we have been really cold this year. I'm sure I won't get as much use out of them as I should unless I visit the kids in Pittsburgh!!!

Do you want my address? It was 22 this morning and snow is coming tomorrow night..?YEAH! My DIL gave me Jammie's for Christmas...sleeves are four inches too short and the bottoms are high waters!!!..:)JP

Well now, you can always come up here. You'll have to wear the two together and maybe three pairs of socks :) I love wearing flannel. I have a pair of PJ's that has a little cardinal pattern on them. They are brand new this winter and I wore them for the first time. Interesting how the sizes change even when they are the same. If that weather keeps up I guess the blossoms will be sprouting too.

You are too funny Sandra.
I may have to break down and get a flannel nightie too.
It was 38 this morning when I got up and the lawn was all frosty.
I usually watch tv with my snuggy blanket too.
I hope the pollen won't be too bad for you this time.
Aww...I just looked out my window and my sweet Hubby is taking down the outside Christmas lights.
It always makes me sad to see them go. The neighborhood looks so dull afterward.
I'm really not complaining since he is doing it all by himself and at no prompting from me,,(:0)

too funny about the gown! it does blend in with the bed spread. I can't order clothes online, have to try them on for this reason.
It's plenty cold here and getting colder later this week. I'm trying to shake my cold. :(

Such a cute post. No flannel needed here, but I do miss our woodstove in Nebraska. Happy New Year and so glad the pup is better. Prayers work!!

I love it!!!! I am wearing flannel these days - it is COLD up here in North Texas! However I can rarely SLEEP in flannel. We have flannel sheets and if I wear the gown - I stick like Velcro when I turn over!! We usually leave our bedroom door open to the patio - just a bit, mind you. I sleep best in the COLD!!!
I can't STAND things up around my neck!!! Don't button it! Nor can I stand the sleeves bothering me!! I just whacked mine off at the elbow and hemmed them. Or not. My favorite flannel nightgown - that is now as light as air - it is 30 years old! - is whacked with no hemming. Works for me!!

Cute night gowns! It is nice to have a few few ones once in awhile. Although, I have a couple of really bad ones nut , you know, I can not get rid of them. They are so comfy!! Nice post....I enjoyed it!

Nice temperatures no need of the gowns....Murphy's law.

Blaming that heat wave on you!

We have rain in the forties. You would need both gowns here.

LOL Too funny, camouflage you can hide whenever you don't wanna be seen. lol

Yep, I noticed that as well! O_o

The color/pattern are very similar, now you can practice invisibility! I'll bet the $200 jeans aren't always the same size, either, but I'll probably never know. ;)

Deb said...

We will need flannel here for the next 10 days

That is so funny how your new gown matches the sheets of your spare room like that! lol

I have bought shirts in different colors from the same manufacturer that were cut different like your two gowns. You wouldn't think it but it does happen all the time.
