Strawberries Strawberries Strawberries

Our local strawberries are in now and I bought 2 pounds of these wonderful berries, ripened on the vines for $2.48 this week.

When I was 12 my parents were so cruel to me, they made me PICK STRAWBERRIES.. I thought they were cruel, but I paid them back by eating one and putting one in my basket and on and on....and they were FREE.. they also made me pick wild blackberries... Now I wish I had access to them

(I also had to pick tomatoes, beans, peas and dig potatoes.. and shell them, peel them and shuck corn.)

Strawberries are a big deal here, we even have a Queen and her court and I am not in that photo... how could that happen?

This is the link to our Florida Strawberry Festival  if you would like to see all the fun they have. It is about an hour drive from us.

ADDING AN UPDATE... I just went to visit Molly The Wally and am ROFLMAO... if you need a laugh visit her today.

What a terrible childhood having to pick all those delicious morsels!

Your post makes me think of a story John tells...when he was a kid, the fruit/veggie man would come around the neighborhood yelling "Strawberries, strawberries, 2 quarts for a dollar!"

The strawberry festival looks like fun!

I've heard about the Strawberry Festivals in Florida but haven't been to one. Your strawberries look awesome. We have been having some beautiful ones this year compared to last years berries!

I didn't know strawberries are so big in Florida. Phil loves them and always has some in the fridge. His mom made him and his brothers pick beans and other foods. They hated it! But that kind of thing is good for kids, and saves the adults backs.

yum, those strawberries look delicious. When I was growing up we had a garden in our back yard and my dad planted strawberries. I miss that

Nothing tastier (in my opinion) than fresh-picked strawberries. I won't be seeing any local ones here till June. But I did recently have some Florida strawberries. Yep. And they were good, too. Maybe not as good as the ones you buy at the festival, but still very tasty!

We have a strawberry festival, but no queen. Our berries won't be ready until May. Yours look scrumptious!

Boy do those strawberries look good, Sandra. It will be quite awhile before there are any fresh berries in New England, but Maine blueberries are among my favorites.
