Tiger Oak Dresser

I bought this Tiger Oak Dresser, a chest of drawers and a chest in 1985. I loved it then I love it now... and most of all I love the morning sun painting stripes on it.

And Pardon Me, but my dresser is not ugly...

On an episode of Flea Market Flip on HGTV,  the contestants were told to find something Old and Ugly and make it pretty...

Guess what they picked? MY DRESSER... She pointed and said Well that is UGLY..they painted it and covered the drawers with decoupaged old love letters over the beautiful grain of the wood.

I could not find the photo from the show, but did find the above which is what they did to the one on the show. I found this one at Forever Decorating, click the link if you want to know how.

I love the show because I am all about Up Cycling anything that can be saved. I like both of these light fixtures created from old things..
Photo's from this sight.. Before and After Images from Flea Market Flip. There are 90 and I have seen all of these created..

Hello Sandra, I am not sure about covering the wood on the dresser. I like the wood..But the two light fixtures are wonderful. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your day!

Since I am a "wood" person I wouldn't cover it, although it looks great. Really like that last fixture!!...:)JP

I would NEVER call your dresser ugly so I question the taste of the producers of that show. I DO lover up-cycling but decoupaging an oak dresser is ugly, in my not-so-humble opinion. I do like the two lamps, though.

I love that dresser with the natural wood...it's fun to watch people upcycle things...

Leave it just as it is. They don't make them like that any more.

Oh I love natural wood on furniture. Never to cover it up. Your dresser is beautiful!

Have a nice day. I put allot of my sketches, drawing in my art section in yesterday and also some trees. Finished up the one Mini book. A.T.C cards. Then working on my first album for my friend later today.

I like your mirror as I love my bedroom Mirror. Your light fixtures from old things. Pretty funky.

Thank you for not wrecking your beautiful dresser, just because it's trendy to paint it! I too like those light fixtures. In a cafe in Chetek, there is a long light fixture made of mason jars in a row. It is beautiful, and I often think of doing it here, but don't know where I'd put it.

What? Well they created a restoration project for someone down the road. I love yours.

I can't imagine anyone saying that is an ugly piece of furniture and then covering it up like that....OMG! That is one beautiful chest you have. Love those light fixtures too.

Oh my gosh, I have got to get my remote and look up this show! I will set the box to record them ALL. Thanks!! I have never heard of Tiger Oak, what makes it tiger? Yours is in perfect shape.

Well, honestly? I could never cover up that tiger maple dresser. They ruined the value of it but.....to each his own!!!!

Excuse me, I meant to say -tiger oak!

Your dresser is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and sometimes the younger generations just don't see things the way we do. And we certainly don't see beauty in the some of the things THEY do!!!
Hold on to that beautiful dresser!!

Someone thought a dresser like yours was ugly? They're nuts. Was the one they redid in good condition? If it was I would never consider covering it in book pages like that. I've seen some awesome furniture makeovers but they always use furniture that's a bit on the run down side.
I've never seen that show but it sounds like something I would like

How could they cover a dresser like that with anything...I agree with you. NOT ugly.

How I love those lights...specially the one with the canning jars.

I love your dresser and the mason jars upside down - I want one of those and have never found one - just one! lol

You have GOT to be kidding! I cannot believe they uglified a dresser like that. Yours is just plain gorgeous. I would give my "eye teeth" as my grandma used to say, for a dresser like that. There is no accounting for peoples taste. Nothing wrong I suppose..but I guess I just don't get it sometimes. :)

I think your dresser is absolutely lovely!

Love the two light fixtures and I love your old dresser. Those people must be wackadoodles if they think it is ugly.

I'm with you. That piece is beautiful.

Yours is so much nicer. I would hate having those papers plastered on a cool wood dresser like that.
