Healthy Dog Treat Tip

TIP of the day from MS.... We feed our two senior dogs IAMS Senior 9 plus and we keep the sugar bowl on the breakfast bar where we eat our meals, full of their dry dog food.

When we are eating we hand Jake and Baby a pellet and they think they have a treat... Treats that are healthy treats and keeps them happy and at the proper weight. and they have no clue they are eating their very own dry dog food..

What's in them, Sandra? Copper has a sensitive belly so I have to be careful of what goes in...:)JP

oh, i see. you use the food itself as a treat.

Sneaky, aren't you? I like it!

Well, aren't you nice! I tell my dog to go leave me alone until it is his turn!

So tricky in the best way!

you're so funny and sneaky! :) I started doing that and I'm pretty sure I got the idea from you. :)
Now that it's warming up I plan to buy some ice trays and make the dogs treats. I mix up plain yogurt, natural peanut butter and honey and fill the trays. I make them small and so it doesn't take a lot of the ingredients. I may just do a post on it. :) thank you for the idea!

Ummmmmm MS I wonder if mom will try that trick on me!! Very clever
We are so late my sis and her hubby are coming this weekend..mom has been on a cleaning spree and cooking spree and we had a crock pot malfunction that required an unplanned trip to buy a new one.
Hugs madi and mom

This is AWESOME!!! And such a pretty bowl. When I was growing up, we had a sugar bowl just like this. This tip is the same thing the vet told us!!! BUT we could not keep treats or food in a bowl. We had cat treats ziplocked up in their packages, and we stuck them in a metal basket along with other things. They knocked the whole basket off the cabinet and onto the floor. They were trying to chew through the thick plastic. Your dogs are GOOD boys!

Great idea! Keep them happy. Love the bowl

They like the act of actually getting the treat as much as they like the treat itself. I'm sure it goes down with a gulp with hardly a taste being involved!

You better hope that neither one of them reads your blog or your secret is out :)
I wish Wade would do that instead of giving scraps from his plate.

Just laughed at the thought that if any unsuspecting human friends grabbed a treat from that bowl . . .

I have done that with Chancy...he will eat anything and never seems to know the difference...if it looks like food he will go for it. :) Hugs and give Baby and Jake nose kisses for us!
