Food Chain..

We watched Leonard for 5 minutes stalking a bee, he was patient and in the blink of an eye to fast for my camera, he jumped a good 20 inches and grabbed a bee on the fly, we watched as he chomped wings and all...

He is part of the food chain in our back yard.

The next day, our resident hawk, not sure if he is the Mr or Mrs, but he sat in our rain tree, not 4 feet from the ground and flashed over and grabbed the lizard. I missed 2 really good shots, because my Rebel would not turn on. Had to put a new battery in it. By that time this is all I got.

The lizards eat mosquitoes and gnats and bugs, the birds eat the Lizard and the Jakeosaurous eats just about anything, He has no predator in our yard and is at the top of the food chain.

These photos today are the Last Stand of My Canon Rebel T1i... the photos are clear and sharp and beautiful, but It has given up the ghost, bit the dust, kicked the bucket... are you picking up what I am putting down?

3 years 7 months and GONE... 190 dollars to repair and I refuse. My first Rebel lasted 9 years and was still clicking when I gave it to my son... Good bye love of my life.. NO! Not YOU... the camera... Silly

Great series of shots. Sorry to hear that your camera died. They are not made to last on purpose these days so that you have to buy a new one.

Now you can get a new one. The Canon 750D for example is a good choice. It continues in the "Rebel"-Line that once was.

Good morning, I love the lizard and the hawk. But Jake steals the show..Sorry about your camera. I agree with Diane above, the cameras today are not made to last.. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Very sorry about the camera. I enjoyed your photos very much. Great pic of Jake.

Great pictures, loved the one of Jake especially. Sad about your camera. I have had two that have gone by the wayside, not having them for that long and too expensive to repair.

I don't agree that manufacturers intentionally make their products to wear out faster. If that was true, they would have no sales eventually. You may have just gotten a lemon or yours just got sick for some reason. That happens with everything, even people! I'm sorry it happened to you. As I get older I'm tempted to return to the little pocket camera I started with!

I cannot recall any camera going dead on me but the worse thing that happened approx 5 years ago. On the cruise. Someone took my favorite camera that has the little top section where you can see your view before you shoot a picture. Now with these cameras. You look and you see own shadow or sun and hardly a view of pictures.

Now they don't make them unless they do in America.

I miss that babe. I was sitting on a table with family having a coffee
and then I went over to look at some jewelry display just across.

Unfortunately one by one of family went to look and the men elsewhere . I mean I guess they thought I took the camera. I thought they knew it was on the table. Presume does not work. To be honest I cannot say I look neither if one member has a camera on the table or not. I too just got up and went over. You learn the hard way Sandra.

So my camera was left on the table. When I went back. Gone.

Sorry about your camera. Bummer.

Camera are not cheap.

Sorry to hear the bad news about your camera! Personally, I think Canon makes good cameras so I think something unusual happened to yours. $190 does sound like a LOT of money. Can the repair person tell you how many times the camera shutter has been clicked? If it is less than half of the ones your camera is supposed to "live through" then $190 might be a bargain.

Awww...total bummer on the favorite camera. That sure wasn't a long life for it and too expensive to repair that's for sure.
Love your food chain photos. I was watching a blue jay attacking the cat from next door...(he loves our yard...me, not so much!!) the cat that is.. I guess the cat was getting too close to her nest and boy I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of the pointy beak. Finally the cat mad a mad dash to the safety of the bushes.
Nature is so fascinating. I couldn't get any pictures of that either. Have a great day. Sandra.

The camera caught Jake. Who killed the camera?

LOVELOVELOVELOVE!!! We are sitting on the couch looking and reading. Leonard is the same color as your fence, and looks like a fence ornament. We love your whole food chain. Do you have different names for them and can tell them apart? Do they make Jake sick? It is always sad to watch our cameras die. BUT so much fun to look around and get a brand new one to play with!! All the new bells and whistles are so fun. I hope you get a bridge camera next like mine (in between SLR and point and shoot.) You NEED a Super Zoom! Do you think we will all boss you around and want you to get our own cameras? Let me KNOW!

How I love Jakdosaurous! How many photos have you taken with your camera? I always wonder how many one will take...and I know it is different from camera to camera. I think my XTi has taken about 21,000...hope it has a lot left in it.

Are you getting a new one?

I enjoyed seeing the food chain and of course Jake is my favorite.
Too bad about your camera. That would seriously upset me and I'm not as much of a snapper as you are.

Those are some interesting scenes you saw this week with the slayers. Sorry about your Rebel. Mine is still good but I seldom use it. I never got very good at it and have relied on my point and shoot cameras for years.

I think you should say happy mother's day and get the camera fixed on your furbabies behalf. :) this makes me miss our lizards. Rocket is already taking tails off the skinks? around here.

Entertaining post on the chain of life and death in your backyard, Sandra. Sorry to read about the Canon Rebel crapping out and if that repair quote is from Canon, they never seem to do any favors in making good on heir equipment. You would think it would have lasted longer...bummer. Maybe you can check out one of the fixed digital camera zooms, which have gotten quite good over the years. Also theres no toting around extra lenses...a big pkus!
