Backyard Birding

Bob and Jake were playing ball, and I was standing staring up into the trees and sky and realized there were two birds on the top of the 40 foot piece of bamboo . The strange thing was it was a Blue Jay and  A Red Belly Woodpecker. Thank you TexWisGirl for identifying the wood pecker for me.

The other odd thing was the fact they stayed there while I went inside for my camera and then sat there while I took 25 photos, trying to get the camera to focus that far away... The both had a seed/berry in their beaks.

I  wonder if we will have new families of WoodJay's, Jaywoods, ... a blue jay with a red head, a red head with a blue bottom?

I AM TAKING A FEW DAYS OFF, TO WORK ON A TO DO LIST THAT IS FOREVER BEHIND..

First enjoy your time away from blog world.

Then, you have me giggling on the new species that may arrive in your yard sometime soon. I'd prefer the ones with a blue bottom. I think.

I LOVE these pics! It's so cool that they were together like this! I miss my blue jays! I haven't seen one since I've been here in NC.
I know all about to do list. :)

Holy smokes. I can't believe they sat there that long. Around here they usually fly away before I even get back with the camera. Do you put glue on your branches?....lol
Hope you get your to do list done. See you when you get back

Great pics! Looks like a totem pole! LOL

Guess your break won't exactly be a break, will it, if you've got a TO DO list. But still, have a great weekend, Sandra.

They do make an odd couple, but I guess they share. How nice of them to wait for you to get your camera! Hope you make good progress on your to-do list!
