Did you know?

I forgot to wash these grapes, Bob and I ate a few and while watching TV I said my fingers smell like matches. Bob put his to his nose and said "mine to, they smell like sulphur.".
We decided it had to be the grapes.

Did you know

they spray grapes with sulphur dioxide?  They use the same thing that makes a match strike, as a preservative on commercial grapes.
It is easy to remove, just wash them with water, and per my search will not harm us.

Do you know?

When you're born, you have about 300 bones. By the time you're a grownup, you've only got 206.

Oh my word...matchy grapes!!
We receive so many stupid scam calls. I hope and pray I keep my senses as I age and if I don't someone takes my phone away.

That commercial breaks my heart too...and I also leave

I didn't know about the sulphur dioxide and I'm glad it's easily washed off with water!

Oh my gosh I did not know any of them. THANKS. I do wash my grapes but I think they should tell you! And the bones... who knew?

I didn't know any of them either. Where did the bones go? Oh, I guess I should click on your link. How weird about the grapes, that you both could actually smell the stuff.

Yikes! I did not know any of this. Thanks! Last night just as we sat down to supper, a guy (with no car in sight) rang our doorbell. He was selling home security systems and was very pushy. Rarely do we have door to door salesmen; I hope this does not start happening all the time now.

I am now educated Sandra. Thanks .

Grapes for one. Yikes.

Those calls. For sure. Had that happen from my own
server from India.

I mean you just these people when you have to have things fixed.

Perhaps next time I will call Ghost Busters. The heck with my computer server.

Scams are on the up everywhere...there was a piece in some of the local news about a door to door book salesman that gets aggressive. I forget where from...not US citizen. He now has permit to go from door to door in nearby town.

I have grapes in the fridge right now, I'm going to have to go see if they smell like matches. I didn't know any of this stuff so now I feel so much smarter :)

We always wash all our veggies and fruits. But, I did not know they spray the the grapes with Sulphur Dioxide.
I wonder what happens to the bones, where do they go?
I am glad that the seniors have someone looking out for them and these awful scams. Thanks for sharing the link.

Enjoy you evening!

I didn't know that about grapes or our bones. I did know that scams are on the rise!

That's reason enough to wash the grapes and all other fruit. I often put the fruit in a bowl with vinegar water, let it sit about ten minutes and then allow it to dry. Keeps it fresh longer.

We kept sulfur powder for a quick aid in animal injuries. Pretty handy but I don't want to eat it.

I always wash fruit never know who's been touching it let alone what it has been sprayed with. You are a font of knowledge today.

Ewwww..on the grapes tasting like matches. I did not know that but I generally wash my grapes before eating them so that's probably why I've never tasted sulphur on them.
Interesting about the bones, I wonder where they all go? - I'll click on the link to find out.
Always good to be on the alert for Scammers. I hate the Indian sounding guy who calls almost every day saying he's from Micro Soft.
