Bug Zapper! Good News/Bad News

Per Friend Lola, the bug zapper she got at Harbor Freight works well on skeeters, gnats and flies.

Bob, tired of me whining about mosquitoes buzzing my ears at night and while reading, and because the one in our living room is as big as a F-85, went with me Saturday AM and  I purchased this electronic bug zapper.
The bad news is.... the thing has been in the house more than 24 hours and we have seen NOT ONE bug, no gnats, no mosquitoes, not even in the garage. I can't  test it because the BUGS ARE GONE.... I want to ZAP a bug...what If I paid 3.99 for it and it doesn't work. by the time we find a bug to zap, they will not swap it out....
The good news is... the bugs are GONE... "scared straight" out of the house, MIA

Good news: Per Google Earth the closest  Harbor Frieight is only 3 miles from our home

Bad News: the store is about 2 acres  of TOOLS and MAN STUFF... Bob went with me.. need I say more?

Good news: We got the paddle for 3.99 and Bob only bought two things totaling 20.00. (almost spent 100.00) Plus we left after one hour when my whining got to much for him . (my back hurts, where is the restroom, my back hurts, my head hurts yada yada)

NOTE: if you want to rush out and buy one and have no Harbor Frieght, per Google Search Bed Bath and Beyond sells them... go figure on That One....

I am waiting for this to happen... some day soon...

We received a paper that they opened a store near us about 2 weeks ago. John has put in a request to go. I love your graphics in that last pic.

Fun and games in your place this week. We have fly screens to keep out the skeeters and bugs and flies. I know they are not elegant but they work.

Wow, that zapper works really good if it gets rid of the bugs just by being in the house.
The closest Harbor Freight to me is about 20 miles.

LOL, If I were you I would be happy not to see any bugs. The $3.99 is like insurance, it is there if you need it. Have a great day!

I had one of those once. It worked great. The neighbors thought I was nuts outside swinging that thing in the air by my mailbox. We had carpenter bees we couldn't get rid of. That thing knocked them out and I would step on them. Problem was we had more bees than I had swings. The bees won. They are still there.

Our local Walmart has them in the garden department and I bought one about six weeks ago. Mine has a black rim and just mesh in the middle without the design like a fly swatter. This thing electrocutes them. I actually sent the first fly into oblivion yesterday so I had the same dilemma - swatter in hand/no bugs. Inside that is. We have tons of wasps and I'm not sure it actually kills them but it knocks them right to the ground for sure and with sparks flying and popping noises. I actually watched one crawl off after a couple of minutes one day but the next time I looked it was gone. So if they drop near me I try to crush them. One day as I opened the door, a wasp flew in. I ran for the Texas-sized swatter, grabbed it, but nothing happened. I had him trapped but it was not working. I was so nervous that I had one in the house I forgot to press the zap button! Once I did that, he was a gonner. There for the first week or so I was dispatching about three a day off the front porch! I have swung it around me while I've walked through grass over a foot high out in the pasture and it zapped so many grasshoppers I was afraid I might start a grass fire! BTW, the one at Walmart was $6.99 and requires two AA batteries. There are many varieties on Amazon.com for different prices but the one at Walmart was the best price. All those on Amazon had good ratings. One warning: NOT FOR USE AROUND PETS OR SMALL CHILDREN. This is not a toy and if you touch the electronic wiring while the activation button is engaged it will give a shock!

If it scared the bugs away, then I say it works. ;))

We were just in Harbor Freight the other day! I wonder if they got them in after we were there. I am almost as bad as Roger in there...I am always looking for things to use in my quilting/sewing.

But, boy, shopping always makes my back hurt if I stay on concrete floors. If I can keep walking, it doesn't do as bad. I know, I'm whining again.

Your husband and mine would like each other. We have one less than a mile from here. Who knew they had a bug zapper like that - we had a big one for outside and I wondered why you had one in your house! Now I see - I'd keep it.

Well sweetie Pie. Last year our bug rack you have. We had a house full of critters. Misquotes to know end.

The house was full. I got a lot of beautiful plants given to me as gifts in winter . For my Birthday House plants.

All of a sudden after a month wondering why so many

misquotes flying all over. They were attacking me. Biting me. I could not even watch T.V. for ten minutes peacefully.
First I had used the fly swatter. No help.

Then we went out next day a got these bug racks like yours.

They saved me from more bites. We zapped them like we were playing tennis at Central park. And we were Champs.
The truth behold. I have a friend who knows about bugs in potted flower in garden center.

She said they breed in the soil of potted flowers. So you got ones that were having a ball before you received them as house guests.

So Sandra if you had continued to have the bugs . Those racks would be a Gods sent.

Only problem. I tell no potted flowers I will take a cut flowers for my family and friends this year over potted flowers.

I had to throw out all the beautiful potted flowers in the winter outside. The bugs burying and having babies in my potted flower gifts. How dare them.

So when they come. Get Ready girl! buzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That must be a very interesting store to walk through. Funny how you haven't seen any bugs since you bought it! Living here in CA for so many years I forgot how annoying mosquitoes can be.

Oh LOL Sandra! I love that there's not a buzzer in sight now you have a zapper. Do please post when you do manage to swot one!

Sounds like you are armed and dangerous! - By the way I feel the same way about visiting tool stores.

Wally World has those and I have been told they work wonderfully.
I boycott HF every time my husband says he needs to go there. At least our store is about 40 miles away!

the closest to us is in Raleigh, about 15 or 20 min away. my husband and son love that store! last time we were there I walked in and found a wallet laying there by the ads. the guy came back to the store while I was still there and he was so grateful I had turned it over to a manager. and my men spend too much money at that store! lol

That sounds like a pretty effective tool--gets rid of bugs before you ever see them! Oh, dear. I have managed to not visit Harbor Freight, though I have gotten suckered into Northern Tools a couple of times with the promise of dinner afterward. Thankfully, hubby likes Bed Bath and Beyond nearly as much as I do. :D
