Meandering Mind of a MADsnapper

My blog friend Denise, author of An English Girl Rambles, went home to England and has posted her photos from that visit. Her Post Part 10 was my favorite.  The photos on that day were of the Queens Guard and all of the photos are worth visiting. Half way down the page is my favorite part, the Video she took of the Changing of the Queens Guard..... The photo above I grabbed from her video by hitting Print Screen, copy/paste in to Word doc and safe as a JPEG.  Thanks for permission to use this Denise.  Pop over to her post to see the video.

The Meandering Mind of Mad Snapper kicked in when I saw the guards with AK47 automatic rifles on their shoulders. WHAT? guns in the United Kingdom?  Yes, Denise said. It started with 9/11 in the USA and all the terrorist's threats.

Scotland
I did a Google Search for Presidential Guards and this is only the tip of the ice berg.  They are all carrying the same guns now.

Scotland
Skr Lanka

Sikh

China

Rome
And Last but not least the United States of America...

The President is guarded by Secret Service, their guns are not in sight but they are there. Guns and earpieces..

The White house is guarded with Secret Service like above and with Swat Teams below

The common factor in all these photos from Google Search is Guns, BIG and FAST Guns. The sad thing is all of this has become necessary by needs, not choice.

Good morning Sandra, amazing photos of all the various guards and their guns. The Secret Service look a little at ease with the President. It is a shame what 9/11 did to us and the world. We no longer feel safe in our own country. Enjoy your day!

I had no idea that the English were carrying guns at all. The last time I was there (it was before 9/11), even the bobbies were not carrying them. Too bad!

Best,
Bonnie

It certainly is sad how much our world is changing. The number of firearms is escalating at a frightening pace.

MS this is a most interesting post!!!
25 years ago my brother in law went Egypt...his trip was quite spectacular...the pyramids amazing. He found it very disturbing to see armed guards on every corner in the cities and very thankful we didn't have there here. Alas it has become necessary

It is a sad state now...all the way around. I went for at least 15 years where our doors were never locked...just did not feel the need. Now, the front is locked constantly, unless we are on the front porch...both doors are locked at night. Garage/shop is locked.

When my girls were say in high school, I usually had money laying somewhere and would tell a few of their friends where it was till if paper boy came or just whatever. It wasn't a lot...say anywhere from $5-$20....

and I know there are still good people...it is just I am more suspicious.

Startling photos of our world.
It's sad but as long as there is evil there will be guns and war.
Thankful for those who give of themselves to keep us safe.

Her pictures brought back awesome memories of my time in Europe. That is very interesting about the rifles. Love all the pictures you shared.

Indeed a necessity in this crazy world it seems. Nice photos. Greetings!

Wonderful insight. There are entirely too many guns in this world, in my humble opinion.

It is a different world than I grew up in. I don't feel safe any where any longer.

We have been taught to be fearful more and more and with that came the opportunity to manufacture bigger and more powerful guns all for profit but disguised as security to keep us safe!!
Weapons are big bussiness!! That is one reason it is hard to shut done the gun use.
