Cool Pics by New Coolpix

These are the first photos taken with the new Nikon Coolpix P610. I had to use Auto because I had to find the manaul on line, then read it to figure out how to use the manual settings. They have the same letters on the dial, but could not figure out how to change the ISO, Apeture, Shutterspeed.

I found the goose and the green slime water way at the Bishop Animal Shelter yesterday. No, not getting a new pup, just stopped to snap

The manual is 238 pages and the file weighed 17.9 M, I found that out when I tried to email it to myself to put the manual in the laptop. I had to put it on a flash drive to move it. Then I propped up in bed to read what I needed to know....  I think these are not bad for using auto point and shoot.

I can tell you the squirrel runs much faster than I can track and focus, it took 6 photo's to get 2 that were half way decent... On my other blog.. Nap time and the Nikon

Well, you took great photos with your new camera Sandra. Love the goose and those cute squirrels, and the green water is very interesting. Algie run rampant in that one but it would definitely draw my attention. I like the shot.

P&S photos are pretty amazing these days. The manual sounds bigger than the camera??

i hate the dreaded on-line manuals these days.

I think you got a winner there!

I absolutely hate that they don't give a physical manual. I just don't always have my computer with me, and am so thankful that my big canons came with a physical one.

Two or three years back I bought the Coolpix P510 and use it more and more and always on auto setting. It takes really sharp photos. You can purchase a manual. I thought the manual for mine was only available online but after I did some investigating I actually found a manual that was written by someone named Alexander S. White called Photographer's Guide to the Nikon Coolpix P510. I bought it at Amazon and I just checked and he has several guides for different cameras including the Coolpix P600 series. It's $25. Mine was $35 I thought but it has 330 pages, an oversized paperback with type you can actually read and pictures and setting examples just like you were looking at the screen on practically every page.

The only thing I didn't like about the earlier model was the fact that you were supposed to charge the battery while it was in the camera. You actually hooked a charging cable up to the camera rather than having a separate battery charger. But voila, you can also buy a separate charger with an extra battery so you can charge the battery and not put the camera out of service while the battery is charging. The one for your camera is $20 on Amazon (made by Vivitar but there is another one that's $14 by another manufacturer) but it comes with two batteries and the charger. To me this is much better than having to plug the whole camera up to charge. Especially when I'm traveling, if the battery goes down during the day I can pop a replacement in and continue shooting and then recharge the first battery in the hotel that evening. I can't imagine traveling anywhere without a spare.

I love the little camera. It's sooooo much easier to travel with than the big Canon and big lens.

Cool pics from your new Coolpix. It takes a nice picture. I really like the one of the goose. That squirrel has kind of an annoyed look on his face. Is he giving you heck for taking his picture...lol
