Go Ahead, Make My Day

Bob and I went to CVS to receive our Flu shot. The Pharmacist could not get our card to work and I will spare you the details of a 40 minute wait and leaving without a flu shot.
We went next door to Publix and 20 minutes later walked out prepared for the flu season. Since this was the tip of the iceberg of  the past year with CVS pharmacy, I decided to transfer my prescriptions to Publix, a local supermarket with a pharmacy that is in our HMO network.
Monday at 11:30 AM, I completed the transfer, and turned to leave as the smell of hot baked bread wafted past me with a subtle hint of hot fried chicken .

I sat the bread and chicken on the counter and watched as the cashier scanned the same item 3 times, typed it in and it would not show in the computer. I said to the woman buying it, “did you know if it is scanned and not in the computer it is FREE?”  She said, “NO, really?” I said, “well it might not be true now, but as soon as I get home and write it on FaceBook it will”
INSERT GIGGLES…. Cashier said “OH NO, don’t do that..”  Other person said “Please do it”….
MORE LAUGHTER…  Other person said, “I have a complaint. I want the milk by the front door.”
I said “No, they can’t do that, when I walk down to get milk, the potato chips jump off the shelf into my cart.”  We are all giggling.  I said “I just transferred my prescriptions  from CVS to here,  but I don’t think it will work out for me.”
Looking worried, Cashier says “Why?” I touched my bread and chicken and said “They don’t sell hot bread and chicken at CVS….”  More laughter
When cashier handed me my receipt, I said “Thank you” and she said NO, thank YOU. You just made my day.
Moral of this story is Go Ahead Make someone’s day, Laughter is like medicine….
NOTE: the man in line behind me did not look like I just made HIS day… poor grumpy old guy

Good morning, Sandra

You had an interesting and fun time at the Publix! And that bread looks delicious. It is amazing how items just happen to jump into our shopping carts. Laughter is good medicine.
Have a happy day!

Well you made my today and tomorrow. Looks like you found your mojo!! WooHoo
I love chit chat while waiting in lines. I think it tells you a lot about a person. Grumpy old men are the worst. He must not have heard frowning causes wrinkles...laughter tightens the facial muscles

So did you get your flu shot at Publix Pharmacy?
Hugs Cecilia

What an entertaining post. I love Publix when I am in Florida. My dad has his prescription there. Glad you changed them over and got your flu shot!

Isn't it fun to let the laughter defuse a situation.
Laughter certainly is medicine for the soul.

I think you have a great sense of humor and can make the best of any situation! Laughter is always good...too bad the grump head in line didn't think so. But, you know, I'm wondering if he was hard of hearing? My hearing isn't so good anymore and I often miss out on lots of stuff. My dad had almost total hearing loss and hearing aids couldn't help him. He would frown, too, when people laughed because he hated missing out on what everyone was laughing at.

Laughter is a good medicine.

My day was a plus too.

I met some gals down stairs of my apt in the game room.

They were playing this board game and one has to knock the other guys wooden circle out. Sort of like curling but standing up. Ha-ha.

Then I got to meet an artist in the building who does material art.

She invited me in to see it. After and hour and a cup of tea she offered me. She showed me her wood carving of wolves she did and then carved Duck and her photos on the wall she took. Awesome.

She had a beautiful small dog. He was small and had a black face like a little bear. She had got him in a shelter years ago.

Last she said. I am having an art class in Nov. Would you like to learn how I do material art. Carolann.

I said for sure. This lady was wanted I needed this morning.Smiles and humor like you Sandra.

She was full of laughter. I find out. She lived not too far from me when I was a kid. Small world.

I am happy of the move hubby and I made to Apt. And I am told by others. Not a gossip place but a real net family gals and guys. Who love humor and fun.

Laughter is the Best medicine! This story is so funny, wish I had been there! In Orlando we had three Publixs within three miles of home. Here in CAry we have one that is about 6 or 7 miles and they're building one closer to us, so happy! I love the store, but some things are a bit pricey, I check their weekly ads. We had their chicken last week....yum!
Thanks for the giggles on the phone! :)
hugs!!

Glad you got your flu shot and transferred your scripts to Publix. They have delicious fried chicken. Also, closer to Christmas, their brand eggnog ice cream is the absolute best! lol
