Embarrassing Moment..# 87 Million

I want to tell you about my Embarrassing Moment..# 87 Million. It might just be The Most Embarrassing Senior Moment since I turned...............well..............Senior...................

Last week and email from my bank advised me my debit card had been compromised with others and they had mailed me a new card with a chip in it. Also advised to cut up old, activate new when it arrived.

The card arrived, I dashed to the phone and called to activate it and hung up ranting.
Bob, did you know all I had to do was type in the last 4 digits of the card and the code and it was activated?... NO ANSWER from the peanut gallery... I continue to rant on about anyone could activate it it they took the letter out of the mail..yada yada yada...

he finally answered with   "did I get one too?"   more ranting from me about reading him the letter and him not listening...It was MY card compromised because he never uses his anywhere but the gas station... Wait that is not what this post is about....

I went to Wal-Mart Friday with the new card, I paid and it did not give me the option to put in pin number, just sign here please. Discussed with Cashier, she knew nothing.  I came home and ranted that I did not want to use it without a pin.. on and on and on. Rant... Rant...

I go the next day to Dollar General. same thing... ditto what I wrote above.
More ranting and raving... Did I tell you I kept checking the bank account on line to see if the two transactions showed? NOPE! Nada, nothing there. More ranting while I emailed Lola and asked if she had that problem.. NOPE!
Have you guessed the punch line yet?
Debit is bright RED card... because I was afraid it might not be active, I tool the Bright Blue Charge Card for Just In Case What If Scenario....
Can you guess now?
YES! I was USING THE BRIGHT BLUE CHARGE CARD..
Yes, the new card works....I tried it Sunday AM and both transactions are sitting on my charge account waiting to be paid. If I can remember how....

Even though it may have been embarrassing at least you found out that there wasn't anything wrong with the card. I've always had to take my new cards to the mac machine and either make a withdrawal or balance inquiry to activate them.

Well let me join your ranting....
I thought I heard ALL stores, by law, had a to start converting their machines to accept the new debit/charge cards that have the gold chip. I heard the purpose was to alleviate entering your pin number making it nearly impossible to have your card pin# stolen. Well Rite aid requires me to swipe it then stick it in place for cards with Chips and I have to enter my 4 digit pin number!!! I asked why I have to do both. I'm told that is what the gold chip is for. I say NO it is supposed to keep one from using a pin number that can be seen by crooks!!I keep expecting double charges.

Anyway I feel your pain and I say rant on sister I'm right behind you.
Hugs Cecilia

Good morning, I rarely use a debit card. I charge everything and then pay off the monthly bill when it comes. I do have the new card with the chip, it works in some stores but not all of them. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

I got a new debit card with the chip and so far it works fine. I don't use it much preferring to use cash or write a check. Speaking of embarrassing moments...I've had more than a few! lol!

Ah senior moments, they are happening to me too. I rarely use a debit card cuz if that is compromised the crooks have access to a bank account. So credit cards are more secure in that way.

Well, I just figured out how to get into iTunes and download Apps. How long have I been a Mac user? Oh, about ten years or so!! Now I can download Apps but there aren't any that I really want!!

Best,
Bonnie

Would you believe, my new debit card recently arrived -- almost exactly the same shade of blue as my credit card. Gotta watch myself!

That made me laugh, it sounds like something I would do. I was having a problem commenting again but thanks to your tip I changed servers and bingo! Did the trick :)
