MOSS rose

front yard moss rose
I was born with the FEAR gene that is the size of an elephant, my What IFFER rivals the Empire State Building.......The What Iffer has no off/on button, it has no way to turn it off.. It plays 24/7 and revs up using the FEAR gene a LOT.

Bob walking the dog each day makes me crazy, the What IFFER revs to high gear... He will be 80 Oct 1st, had stints in 2002 and open heart surgery in 2007 and is fine.

That said... he walks without a phone and NO ID on his person. He will not carry the phone, will not carry a note or a card or any ID...

What If ...he falls, faints, drops down you know what? no one will know who to call or even who he is. If he can't talk Jake can't talk, how will the EMT or Cops KNOW who he is?
I Listen for sirens, watch the clock because I know how long it takes, try not to form scenarios in my mind.
I will not leave home until after he walks the dog . I just had a thought... What IF I tattooed his SS number on his arm?

PS... I know you are thinking the simple answer is walk with them. I can't... that is another story

The moss rose is so pretty sitting on that stump. Here is why he will not take a phone or I.D. He knows that you know where he is going and you know the number of the hospital E.R. You would know what to do and where to look. So HE doesn't worry. He leaves all that to YOU. How about one of those tracking chips they put in dogs? I have seen them put in goats and your phone can follow his path wherever he goes!

Hi Sandra, I love the moss rose. I like Ginny's suggestion of the chip too! I am a very calm person; Grant is the "panicker". When the kids leave their home in another province (about 400km from here) and are on their way to us, he TIMES them. Drives me crazy. We have arguments because I will not phone them and ask where they are at that moment. I know what it's like to travel with children and they have SIX. When our other son went on holiday in convoy with his parents-in-law last month, Grant worked out the two cars' speeds and their ETA at the first destination. Amanda had told him where they'd be overnighting on the first night. Again I refuse point blank to send messages or phone to see how far they are! AAgain - arguments, LOL! But you are all alone. I feel for you with your IFFER - fear gene! Bless...

Yeah, he should carry some information with him (even though i don't do it sometimes as well). But if he stays close to home and in areas where people know him it might not be such a big problem.
Maybe put a collar on Bob as well :)

Sandra we are for sure What Iffers sisters born to other mothers.
OH do I have that gene for sure and I got it from my mom she was 10 x worse than both of us. I called her Doom and Gloom Lucy. Her name was Lou.
She knew to route I took to/from work. BUT her doom and gloom took over when she hear there was an accident she knew I was involved. No matter that it was in the southern part of the county and I live in the north.
Crazy curse for sure but I fully understand

Hi Sandra, I am one of those What Iffer people too. Bob should carry some kind of id, does Jake wear an id-tag?

At least my hubby carries a cell phone, hopefully it has service out in the woods.

Stay cool. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

I was the very same way...but now, after so many of family members that left us behind, I tend to take things a bit more "If it happens, it happens" attitude. No sense in worrying....what comes, comes.

Tattooing a # would look like he is a survivor of Auschwitz. Don't want that. Maybe an ID bracelet? Like the alert bracelets...would he go for that?

Bud's favorite flower is the moss rose.

Jake wears tags, right? As long as Jake was still with him, at least, people would be able to call you.

Our Hubbys...we can't live with them sometimes and we can't live without them.
I loved all the suggestions from your friends.
With Bob's medical situations, a little id would be a good thing.
When there is a medical emergency time can be of the essence.
I would hate to have precious time wasted on trying to figure out who he is and where he lives.
Jake seems to be the only answer with his chip or collar id.
Good luck with your IFFEAR gene...

You've another "what-iffer-sister", checking in!

I was going to suggest a tattoo, as well ... only somewhere he'd probably not notice, w/o benefit of a 'rear-view' mirror. LOL.

I know the feeling well Sandra. Tom has had the heart attack and several blood clots on the lungs, also has stents and is actually going back in next Thursday for another angiogram and possibly another stent.
I worry if he just goes along the road to the shop if he's longer than necessary.
A tattoo might be a good idea, ha ha.

I used to be a what iffer when I was married to my first husband. Thankfully I don't do that any more because it's no fun. Maybe you can sew ID tags in all his shorts and shirts :)

Remember, God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, and power and a sound mind! LD will be 80 November 16th. I try to turn my fears into Godly desires. If I were you, I would write Bob's name and phone number in INK somewhere on his body while he is sleeping! Just a thought!
When Summer and Jesse, Jr were kids, they would ride their bikes across town. Before they left the house I made them write their name, address and telephone number on the inside of their arms in black Sharpie pens. They never needed this but I felt better knowing it was there!

Love your moss roses, Sandra. Laughing at some of the suggestions for labeling Bob. Hopefully, he won't need it.

When going out for walks, I also fail to carry ID all the time, but always have my cell phone in case of emergency.

I have a friend whose husband says "if the Lord wants me he will take me no matter what I do". And to that I say, "but the Lord doesn't want you to jump in front of a bus to hasten the journey." Maybe a tag to hang on Jake's collar with at least a phone number to call? My husband wears one of those cyclists bracelets..has his name and everything on it. He cycles up to 20 miles away from the house and this makes me a little more comfortable.
ps- I, too, carry that whatif gene.

Granny called that Borrowing Trouble. I do understand. It is our planning for the worst that keeps us prepared.

I have two baby moss roses about two inches tall.

would he wear an id bracelet or necklace of sorts?

I've got it. Buy tags and markers! Put labels inside his clothes or underwear like kids going to camp.
