Perils of Pauline..

In a prior post I told you I spent many minutes trying to remember the name of the girl tied to the railroad tracks...
And. I don't even know why... I found there were many . It occurred to me while I researched this, just a few years ago, it would have taken hours and hours at the local library.

Sorry, my train of thought must have left the station without me... Brahaha Stick with me, you are on the right track....

Pearl White in Perils of Pauline 1914

The perils of Pauline with Betty Hutton 1947

And The Perils of Pauline with Evelyn Knapp in 1933 which is the one I remember.

All Steam Locomotives have a tender behind.

I still have not remembered why I wanted to remember the Name Pauline... but I sure did entertain myself. I went to youtube and watched a few and read up on her... She sure lead a perilous life.

Pauline also found Peril in the comics.
The 3 links below will take you to each one if you want to see what else I found...Remember I am Vintage 1944...

My question is, was she ever rescued? And, how did she get in that fix in the first place?

Best,
Bonnie

I guess I have an old soul. I love these vintage movies.
I do remember Dudley Doright too.
I love how your mind goes. At least you found the pictures.
I haven't found my Indian photo yet. Guess I really don't feel like plowing through all of my archives at the moment.
Have a great weekend.
I agree that the flower I posted would be a fantastic glass bowl.

That one picture of her screaming with the train about a foot from her is priceless!! Pearl White is the one I remember, of course not watching in real time, since these were all before my time. But I know of them well, and have seen clips. I did not know there were more than one! Still today, we use the phrase "Perils Of Pauline, or Perils Of Ginny, and so on. Then there's Dudley Do Right. Wasn't he the hero who always rescued her? I have seen him, and he is even in cartoons.

That Evelyn Knapp was certainly pretty for her time, wasn't she?
I remember my parents mentioning "Pauline" now and then. For some reason, my brain always mixed her up with the doll, Poor-Pitiful-Pearl.

I have a memory of seeing at least one of these throughout the years. It is amazing how you can look up anything these days so quickly. We were trying to remove the pins from a door today to take it off to trim it. Could NOT get the pins loose...googled it and solved the problem! lol

It is amazing what we can find on line. There is more information than the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Amazing! Used to watch these old movies on British TV back in the day :)

I remember one movie...don't know which. Didn't know she got tied on tracks. I do remember Snidely Whiplash, the cartoon villain who tied girls to tracks.

You did a fantastic job researching this. - There's a cartoon that has a lady tied to the railroad tracks but her name was Nell.
