Odd Things Happen

A couple of weeks ago, Bob came home from the park with a brand new battery for his radio control airplane and the above KNIFE.

He sad he noticed the battery sitting on a fence post and walked over to see if it was anything he could use. it was and is and has been used. As he turned to walk away his foot touched something and looking down he saw the knife above, buried to the handle in the dirt by the post. The blade is 10 inches long and it is very sharp...

He said: Imagine what would have happened if the lawn tractor ran over this and slung it out..

I replied:   OH MY! I do hope that is not a MURDER WEAPON... is it sharp? BE CAREFUL, it looks Sharp... why did you bring it home? where exactly was it? how do you know what they cut with it? does it have a name on it? do you think it is worth anything?    I did say all this and more but can't remember it all.
I know you all cant handle long stories, so let me cut to the chase and ask...What would you say to your hubby or wife?

I would say exactly what you said. And more. In order: Where did you find it? How much has it been used? Is there a brand on it?

Will you keep and use it? Well, why not? Knives like this are real expensive. And I see sharpening marks on it. Just in the middle of a field? I wonder if some people were having a picnic, that is the most likely explanation. YES, a happy couple in love having a picnic. No murder.

They mystery lover in me would have asked about the murder possibility! Maybe since it was not "hidden" and the blade was safely stuck in the ground, someone just forgot it.

First thing to come into my mind was DNA, if it had been used for a criminal purpose, but then maybe I've read too many crime novels. lol

Hello, I am glad your Bob found the knife before someone was hurt with it. That would have been awful. I hope it was not a murder weapon, I would have thought that too. Enjoy your day!

That is a sharp KNIFE...be careful. Glad Bob rescue the knife before a child found it or worse another criminal

Go Bob!! He probably saved someone a trip to the hospital!! I watch way too many Criminal Minds and CSI shows and would probably be figuring out ways to check for blood splatter on the knife LOL!

Not sure what I would have thought..I would not have thought crime though. I would have said you are keeping it in your shop...we have enough knives in the drawer.

We have a running 'thing'...I don't know how many of those knives are around here. And he picks up knives at Goodwill, flea markets, etc...to redo.

I like the chef's knives with the real then blade cause they do cut through stuff easier, and he wants to have one with a thicker blade. Thinks it cuts easier...or else it makes him feel more powerful. LOL

We watch Murders on Neflix.

So yes a murder has taken place. Ha, ha

Okay the wife did it.

Only she needed to bury the weapon.

Silly lady. Now your hubby has it.

Wipe the fingerprints off quick Bob.

I'd say it was better Bob took it home than just left it there for any random maniac to find... ;) (If your worry does not leave you alone you could always send your photo to the police and ask if anyone had reported it missing...)

I would probably have said, "cool, wonder how it got there"!

Yikes, I would be rather curious how the heck it got there. Knowing my husband like I do, I know he would NOT have brought it home!

Have the crime lab check it for DNA. I'm sure it's a murder weapon. :-) And yes, Mr. C. most definitely would have brought it home.

My first reaction would likely be to sterilize it and then maybe use it.That does make me wonder what the intended use of it was.

Murder weapon was the first thing I thought of. I wonder why someone would have left it there like that

My reaction would probably be the same as yours! What a mystery.

Oh yikes! I'm so glad Bob discovered that knife and not some child. Unfortunately, I've a wild imagination and would suspect foul play right off. (But no trace evidence?)

Then again, that battery. My DH is a RC enthusiast, too (WWII aircraft); and I know he and his cronies are real particular about their toys. The mystery deepens!

I'd say...Burn it!! You don't know WHERE it's been or what it was used for. Get it outta here...NOW

I would have all of those same questions. Imagine if some kids found it. I do wonder if it was used in a murder!!!
