Wow! I have never seen a memorial like this. It is for Viet Nam, and each soldier has his own inscribed bench! How many are there, and how did they choose who to give a bench? Oh, wait! I just had to Google it. So these are all the soldiers who died in your county. And there is one man who just got on the memorial over 30 years since he was injured, then later died. I love the two flags with the palm trees in between. Just perfect for today!! Plus I never knew about this memorial.

Your photos are powerful and very emotional. Mother's daddy was killed in WWII.

What a beautiful memorial. Is this one place that has different sections for each war?

The Bradenton WWII Memorial is an amazing sight, and a lovely tribute to those who fought for our freedom.

Thank you for remembering. Some did not return; others were told on the plane home if they wore their uniforms to expect negative reaction. Finally, they are honored. Few days go by that I don't remember.

Good morning, Sandra! wonderful post and tribute for Memorial Day. My father was a WW II vet and my brother was in the Navy. God Bless our veterans, soldiers and those who gave their lives.

Happy Monday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead!

Beautiful ... but so sobering.
As a child of the 60's, I appreciate that those who perished in VietNam are afforded this thanks and respect (that many) never received on their return.

I echo what another blog pal (Jack at Ship's Log) who wrote, "They have honored us much more than we could ever honor them."

Have a great new week!

Your post was very moving, Sandra. Sad to see so many fallen military, but nice that they are remembered by all who visit the memorial.
