Dozens of 1st Cousins

My Mothers First Cousin Lois has 3 daughters, Lois- Lynn, Rocks-Ann and Faye on the left. On the right is my 1st cousin Andrea with Granddaughter Erin.
I found these two photos on Facebook and thought.. What is Erin to ME? I have always believed Andreas son would be a 2nd cousin and Erin a 3rd cousin.  I ran a Google Search for the answer..

All of the cousins in these photos I have known all my life, and am still in touch with a couple times a year and at weddings/funerals/reunions.

I  thought I had ONLY 6 1st cousins on Paternal side and 4 on Maternal side. Wrong!

All the children of my 1st cousins are my 1st cousins once removed and there children are my 1st cousins twice removed and on down the line. If the line starts with 1st cousin it continues down each generation as 1st removed.

I find these cousins make  DOZENS OF 1st  COUSINS

On My Mothers side of the family, the red X above are my 1st Cousins and spouses, with children and grandchildren.
there children are my 1st cousins once removed, their grandchildren are my 1st cousins twice times removed. Wow

My 1st cousin Bonnie has contributed two 1st cousins once removed and Seven  1st cousins twice removed.

1st  cousin Sharie gave me three 1st cousins once removed and 2 twice removed
!st cousin once removed Corie has given a total of five  1st cousins twice removed. and I am not sure what the spouses are. Do we count them to? if so I have Dozens and Dozens of First Cousins.
I love all my cousins and all but the last photo live a few miles away.
These are only the cousins from my Mothers side of the family, Floridians. There are dozens more in Georgia from Daddy's side..
We need to have a first cousin reunion... we will have to rent the Civic Center.

My head is spinning. Too much math and ciphering for me. But they all look lovely, and I am so glad you found them!!!

Mine, too!! We need to have a session together!! I had my DNA tested and it has come back with all this same language as yo have used tonight. I need help! Do you understand all this??? You must have a mathamatical mind. I haven't paid much attention to any of my DNA matches since I don't know my father's name and am not sure it matters without that info. STILL!!! I am excited for YOU and your extended family! Wouldn't it be great to find some real family like you did??

I must admit, you got me there. It all got lost in translation in my head about who is who. But what a large and lovely family you have, so many happy photos, and its always great to find something new about our families -and in your case its loads of cousins. Greetings!

Oh wow, Sandra, like Ginny, my head is reeling as well. All the math boggles my mind. I was just thinking about my sister's son's children and realized they are my great-nephews or nieces. Their parents (my nieces and nephews) are my sons' cousins so their children are my sons' second cousins as we say here (once removed I suspect is the same thing. What an interesting post. Do you see any of these cousins and their children?

"My Mothers Mother had 4 sisters, they all have children and grandchildren and great grand children.
All of them are my first cousins"

I didn't know it worked like that! How cool. :)

Lots of cousins. Once you get past the first cousin, I can never keep straight what all of them are. People talk about their second and third cousins and I haven't a clue.
There were lots of cousins in my family between my mother and my father's families. Sadly, a lot of them hav already passed away. On my father's side most of them were quite a bit older than me so I never got to know them very well

Hello Sandra, that is a lot of cousins. You would need to rent a big room for a reunion. That sounds like a fun time and get together. Loved all the cousin photos. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

Golly Miss Molly if you got tons and tons of kissin' cuzzins your lips are gonna get mighty sore. So they aren't really called 2nd cuzzins etc.
Too funny
Speaking of cuzzins have you ever heard of double 1st cousins? Now there is a search for google. My Dad's mom and her sister married brothers...supposedly the children from these marriages are double first cuzzins to my Dad but what in the world are they to me?

Goodness! I lost track. Here is my dilemma: I have 39 first cousins (actually first) on my mother's side. I guess I need to count up all the children of my 39 first cousins and add them to my first cousin list. First, I need to go to Office Max and get some paper, pencils and a calculator.

Thank goodness my father is an only child!!

Best,
Bonnie

This gave me a good giggle . I too have quite a few cousins here on my mothers side of the fam in New England . My dad was from the south and a family of 12 … there I have more cousins than I could ever add up ~ the family reunions fill up the whole park.

I had no idea you had that big of a family - did you always know them - I guess since you had pictures you did - but wow! Very interesting. I think I have about 100 cousins too! sandie

Whew! My head is spinning! I only have one cousin and a few half-cousins. BG has several...his side was way more prolific than mine. :) My grandmother had lots of brothers and sisters, but they didn't have many children of their own. Same with my dads side.

Boy, I'm not sure of how all of this works.
I am amazed that they all live close to you, except for those in the last photo.
My relatives both known and unknown live from one end of the US to the other.
I have lost track of most of them but find this fascinating.

If both sides got together you might need a football stadium!

A first cousin reunion would be great. I didn't know the term was 1st cousins once removed, thanks for the lesson on that.

Great pics....I always have trouble keeping up with 1st once, twice, three times removed! But where do second cousins come in at? You are doing awesome at 39 lbs!Great job.

I have been walking outside every day except today is thunder and lightning. So have been absent to your comments. You have many followers so don't have to worry.

Oh my what a big family. Nice looking all of them.

I guess I could say my family is huge also but not really interested to collect all the photos like you have. Half is passed on and the rest have not a clue where they are. Some people like yourself enjoy getting them all out and show and telling them. Not me. The ones I keep track of is my grown adults and Grandkids.

OK,now I'm officially confused. I have a hard time keeping up with 1st cousins, there are sooo many. You do have lots of family and that is good.

Wowie Sandra I'm so proud of you. You are doing fantastic. I'm down a few more pounds too. It's hard when we are eating out a lot with son and granddaughter here. Yesterday I got so sick before going to church. I almost thought I was having a heart attack. but it was just indigestion and eating things I'm not suppose to eat like toast for breakfast, In N Out burgers, french fries...gluten and carbs sent my sugar through the roof.
Feeling okay today. But only ate protein yesterday...eggs and meat. Kind of scary.
All that to say keep up the good work and you will be so happy.

I've but 5 1st cousins in all, but we've little to no relationships.

'Just got home in time to catch ABC News coverage of your Emily. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery!
