Clean Up Crew!

The above grapefruit is one of around 100 that fell from our tree, The whole Nov/Dec crop is gone. I was in charge of picking up grapefruit.  I lack photos because I was to upset to take many.

To the tune of "Chainsaw/Generators" we did our "After Irma" cleanup.
Bend/Stoop/Pickup/Toss on Pile
Bend/Stoop/Pickup/Toss on Pile
Bend/Stoop/Pickup/Toss on Pile
IN UNISON, Bob and I until we had 4 piles as high as my waist/shoulders.

I was smart and used the grabby pick up squeezy thingy because if I bent over 100 times, I would not be here to report this. It was difficult seeing the grapefruit because my glasses had sweat drops on them that were blinding me. I wiped the sweat off with my shirt and OH MY! that was better LOL

The good news is, if I had not lost weight before Irma, Bob would have been alone on this crew. Can you say Exhausted? ORANGE you glad I shared this?????

The grabby pick up thingies are really life savers! I keep mine handy. How much more work is left? I imagine the pool will not be clean and swimmable for awhile either...I have never seen an unripe grapefruit before, I would never have known what the heck it is.

WOW, 4 waist high piles is a lot of picking up. Good thing you had one of those grabby pick up squeezy thingys.

Orange I glad you shared? A resounding yes! How else would we get the true picture of what our Floridian friends have experienced and survived?
And about the sweat in the eye, every time it happens I say to myself--ya know, that's why they make sweat bands. But do I go get one? No.

Oh dear me I hate to hear that about the grapefruits. We were just wondering the other day about the oranges etc.
I can hear your chant..kinda like working on the chain gang.

That is a lot of stuff to have piled up! Will the city pick it up or will you have to pay someone to haul it away? Roger sweats like you are talking about, so he usually wears something wrapped around his head. He takes old t-shirts and cuts a rag cuts it a certain way and ties it over his head.

Me I do a slow sweat, and every stitch will be wet, and wallet will be wet through, but sweat does not drip like it dies on Roger.

I've heard of the grapefruit diet but this sounds like the grapefruit workout! Hope it all gets sorted soon.

Sad about the grapefruit but glad you survived in tact.

So sorry about your grapefruit crop! I noticed my neighbor lost quite a few lemons off of their tree too.

Yuck.....I don't do grapefruit! Orange you surprised? haha....I love orange, I love to cut and slice, I squeeze in my unsweet tea! Hoping that you guys are recovering well from Irma. Such a wicked event to live through. We were supposed to get storms, winds and rains from her, but luck was on our side. One day of rain, some wind but not high like they expected.

You exhaust me just thinking about all that work you had to do. What a shame about the grapefruit.
Healthy does make things easier....
The Thingy really does help doesn't it?

That must have been very tiring work. The that and humidity alone would have done me in.

Oh my goodness. I am glad that you had the grabby pickup thingy. But I can imagine how sad you are to lose that crop. So sorry about that...

I don't know how tall you are ... but waist-high. Oh my! Good thing you n' Bob work so well in unison. If Tom and I were to tackle that job, we'd probably not b e speaking to one another.

I'm generally not fond of other fruit, but my heart hurts for those poor grapefruit. Soooo good.
