Civil War Weekend # 6

My favorite Confederate Soldier boarded with his wounds and preceded to bellow with pain, all the way back to the hospital tent.

30 % of all Southern men between the ages of 18 and 40, died in this war.

9 million people lived in America at the time of the war, 3.4 million of those were slaves. they were freed at the end of the war.  Kids Civil War Facts

Confederate sitting, wounded, his guard standing, also wounded, the man yelling to the nurse to bring the whiskey.

Above the surgeon and his assistant. SHE WAS IN PANTS!!!! and they proceeded to make the soldiers howl with their ministrations to them. see below.

The youngest Union soldier was carried on board, gut shot.....  to be continued... j
just two more, hang in there.

  3. It sounds like the cure was worse than the wounds. Ouch!
30 percent was a large piece of the population back then. If slavery had never existed think how many lives would have been saved.

And as a non-American it's interesting to see and read about how it was back then. 30%...that's a lot isn't it?! Thank you for the journey back in time.
    Have a lovely day!

My only words for this NEW BLOGGER CRAP-O-LA, are...

  17. I know the surgeons did their best, but with the equipment available (and the knowledge) at that time there wasn't much they could do. The most common way of treating wounds like your favorite got was amputation.

Great pictures.. I loved it that that soldier was 'flirting' with you!!!!

Did Bob go with you on this reenactment? Maybe you said --but I may have missed it.

Thanks for taking us with you.
