Flocks of American White Ibus are a common sight in our neighborhood, they wander in our yards poking those long ugly beaks down in the grass eating whatever it is they eat. I took these from our garage, they are easily spooked, so can't get close. (no clue why the neighbors painted the door orange a few weeks ago, the house is PINK)
P.S. if your house is pink with an orange front door, just Snap! Me

ReplyDeleteI always thought they were pretty birds from a distance but then I never got a good look at those faces. They are a bit funny looking.

Uh oh! You put the welcome sign out via photoshop only, I hope. And I hope there is not an ibis rookery in your tree's future. Although it might be a source of photo subjects, if ibis rookeries are like some other shorebird rookeries I have encountered, puuuuuuuuuuueeeeeee!

ReplyDeleteI love seeing what is "normal" in other areas. Around here we get squirrels, wild turkey and deer. I think we'd be intrigued to see something like this out the front door (orange or otherwise).
P.S. In your shot the orange door provides a nice pop of color and doesn't look strange at all (Just in case the neighbors pop in). I like it!
Hmmm. I'd like to have a red door. But not with a pink house. Birds are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI don't normally see them in trees either, but the other day there was one on my neighbor's roof. Wonder what's up with them?? I just love the one pic where they are in the tree and the sky is so blue and there's one flying in the background...WOW!
OMC I've never seen and Ibis in person and certainly would never expect to see that many in a tree.

Our neighbor has a PURPLE door (which we like) but the house is lime green!! MOL

Those are some very cool looking birds! I know I've never seen them before. They are ugly in a way especially the one with the red beak but the others are pretty.
