These are all from the order of Circoniiformes, which include cranes and herons. I have not clue which these are, but TexWisGirl will tell you when she reads this. I took these when they first opened the preserve.
UPDATE: TexWisGirl came through with the names. Above and below is a Juvinile Night Heron.. that means he is a Teen Heron.

Just love the Pic Monkey Fever with that lady sneaking a peek out of there!!!!!! And your new header is gorgeous!!!!!!!! Perfect for the month of October.I can imagine it was fun putting them all together. Yes, I would like to know what those birds are called. We will wait to hear from Tex-Wis. TGIF!

ReplyDeletethe first one is definitely a juvenile night-heron. by the long neck, i'd say a yellow-crowned night heron.
the second is a GORGEOUS reddish egret. MAN, i'd love to see one of those! SO beautiful!!!
I'm not sure what these birds are, either, but I know that these are marvelous photos.

I have that same PicMonkey fever...hopefully it will not cost to much when they start charging...it will depend on how addicted I am if I stay with it. The egret is amazing...I could sit and bird watch all day. I get a kick out of the cranes around where I live...they are adapting to city living.
